No real difference between the two. All versions have some bugs. Both work well and fine though

The app file (14G381) is only one file. This is the one to update the core system software.
The other files are for gracenotes, maps, voices, nav voices etc.
if you just want to update the system application version you just need the one file and can write an autoinstall.lst file to install it and not bother with syn3updater. That just automates what you can easily do and create yourself if researched the process and files.
I never use or need to use it.

If you need or are looking to update other things like maps and voices etc then you are best looking at getting the full package of files.

Also look at the sync 3.4 thread. This one is way outdated.

I'm clearly 7 years late on trying to upgrade my Sync 3 to v. 2.2, but I've gone through the OP and none of the links work now 😅. I have a 2016 with navigation.

Is someone able to update the link? Perhaps @mcrcracer (not sure if he is still on here or not)?

Sorry just reading through it now; its not clear that Android Auto would be enabled on this one?

Has anyone done this update and can verify this?

I used the cyanlabs software to update mine to whatever they had as current a few months ago (version escapes me at the moment.) I have android auto after that and use it every day. I am currently using an AAwireless wireless dongle for Android Auto and that all works great for me.

Awesome to hear thanks!

Thank you for your recommendation! The Cyan labs link was super helpful and was a cinch to install. Super excited I have AA now, and yet still an option for the ford based Nav for when I travel out of country.
