@SenderPiggins
I actually gave up on trying to find this information. It seems that our "global" Focus is different from the other Ford models (F-150, Fusion, etc) in that the option to set the bulb out warning aka hyperflash and dash warning isn't available as an option in our body control module. This is from what I was able to find on forscans website as well as here, RS forums, ST forums, etc.

That having been said, I've found three sets of bulbs that I've used or plan to use to replace the rear brake lights, rear turn signals and front turn signals. The rear brake lights obviously don't matter in the case of hyper flashing. I'm just mentioning them here in case anyone might also want to have that instant-on look of an LED brake.

Rear LED signal bulbs (3157): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J5TJV5P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Although Amazon will tell you they don't fit I've confirmed these as both fitting and working. There is actually a short video review from another RS owner who also has them installed in the reviews section of that page. They are plenty bright IMO, an improvement over stock for sure. They don't hyper flash. The benefit of these bulbs is that the resistor is integrated into the wiring and is of decent quality. Makes them easy to install and very plug and play. Took me 5 minutes per side.

Front LED signal bulbs (1156): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07434NYX1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
These I ordered Wednesday and I am expecting them Monday, I will update you on how they perform but the reviews seem promising. These also have an integrated resistor so they should in theory also not hyper flash, but like I said I'll let you know.

These are cost effective, are a deep bright red, easy installs that I can confirm work for brake lights if you want LED.

Any questions let me know.
Interested in hearing your thoughts on the bulbs and whether they're compatible with our vehicles. Please report back on whether or not the front/rear hyperflash. I saw the review from the RS guy on Amazon for the rear turn signals, but he stated the bulbs weren't weatherproof. I would like to hear your side of the story.

@awkwardmoment

Sorry I haven't been around due to the holidays. That has given me some time to continue testing and I can confirm that all bulbs I mentioned/linked earlier are compatible with my 2016. That is they do not hyper flash, do not overheat, and are almost plug and play with exception of the rears. They don't get terribly warm even after minutes flashing repeatedly, but then again it's not summer here in Connecticut so that'll be the next thing to look out for/test. You can see the resistor units attached:

So when I said almost plug and play, this is regarding the rear amber pair (3157). Two things, first, there are little nubs on the connector you'll need to dremel off so they slot in correctly. (See attachment)

Second, they technically aren't waterproof. This is because the connector from the cars wire harness usually plugs straight into the tail light creating the seal, but with the LED + resistor setup this is no longer the case. Now that connector sits between the tail light housing and the body of the car, exposing it to water, salt, dirt, soap etc. (See attachment)

What I did to alleviate this concern was tightly wrapped it with two layers of electrical tape. The first layer just wrapped, the second layer wrapped over the first with superglue between them for longevity. At some point I will be revisiting this to see both how it holds up and likely to apply heat shrink around the electrical tape to keep the seal tight. (See attachment?)

All of that having been said I've also been able to test the front LEDs and those are sealed into the headlight so those are plug and play in the truest sense. Uploaded pictures of the 3157 connector in question, as well as my weatherproofing efforts, what the area under the tail light looks like, as well as both LED sets of amber signal bulbs as they look outside of the box. Let me know if you have any other questions, sorry for the thread hijack. 😓

@jettic

Thanks for the notes. I have LEDs all around, Sylvannia in the rear and Philips in the front. It seems like hyperflash is just something I'm gonna have to live with unless the dealer IDS can do something about it.

Sync 3.4 update--- After you complete your 3.4 update, you will have to go back into FORscan to bring back the in color changes you had. The boot screen survives the update if you had made a change previously.

First off @seniorgeek - thank you very much for keeping the first page updated, organized, and all your responses. I'm sure I speak for a lot of us when I say we appreciate the time you've put in.

The sync 3.4 download was posted elsewhere? I may have missed this one.

What is GPMS? I tried to Google to see but couldn't find much information. What does it do when you turn it on?

Are you saying "Danger Will Robinson"?;)

Is there good reasoning or counter points to not move forward to the v3.4?

Anyone remember what number should be used to turn off nav in motion? i.e. if 7 turns it on what’s the number that turns it off?

I want to try to go back to stock setting on that one to hopefully get the Canadian French nav voices back in Sync 3.4! I have my original files at home but no access to them at the moment.

Thanks!

Edit: according to my as built file original number was 3.

Check the dropdown settings. IIRC it was easier to undo than to enable. Worst case get your as-built from ETIS.

Yes I actually edited the post above before I saw your answer. My as built file says it was 3 before I made the change.

If it’s got a dropdown option now than it’s even easier!

@phillofoc thanks for your input you were correct and disabling the nav in motion fixed the language issues I had with Sync V3.4.

Didnt bother downloading the new Forscan version which has the dropdown option for this now. I just got a new extended trial license and made the change in the As Built format tool. Changed the block back to original value (7D0-02-01-4341-0C06-40B0) and got the French back at next startup (actually set itself back to English at startup with the Sync lady saying it out loud, which I was than able to change to French successfully now).

Hopefully this info will be useful to someone else in the future who does not use english for their system. Thanks again @phillofoc, now my girlfriend will stop making fun of my ''useless'' update as she says (I use waze on carplay but wanted he latest maps just cause I could)!

@xd-data-ii should get the credit, he helped me fix the same problem a few months back. I just hang around here a little more often than him.

Thanks to both of you!

That’s what I like about those forums is there is most likely someone who already had the issue that can comment and help!
