That's cool, except he offered no info at all, not even how much under msrp he would sell a 2017 so the whole conversation is meaningless.

I don't have to offer information to you because I'm not selling you one. If a dealer is willing to sell you one under MSRP that's a win versus paying over sticker. There isnt a lot of markup in these cars at all.

Without information in regard to your original statement, the statement itself means nothing. If you for example said, "my dealership is selling 17s for 4k under MSRP" then it becomes a discussion of hypotheticals where we can weigh the two choices. What you basically said was "why did you buy an 18 when 17s are cheaper" without qualifying that with anything which is not a discussion but comes off as simply a douche statement that is aimed at making the OP feel bad about his purchase.

If you don't offer any information then don't throw out your title as a sales manager, it means nothing.

1st - No one is selling a RS for $4000 under MSRP example or not. We sold what we had slightly over sticker.

2nd- if there is a dealer selling for any under sticker $42,455-$1000 = $41455 example vs $44-45 msrp plus market adjust($3000-$10000) for initial release. You could be looking at $5000+ more for it to be possibly worth a little more. That's all I was say.

This is a career not a job, we sell a lot of cars and we trade for a lot. I do know a little more than the average joe about this topic.

No one was trying to make you feel bad about your purchase that you are going to make, but you started talking about values to a guy that works in the business.

Again good luck with your RS values.

What does it matter what info he is offering up? A quick search of Ford dealers across the country will show that there are some that are selling 2017 RS's for under MSRP.

And of course there are still those clinging to that adjusted market value crap as well, but the initial hype has died down on the car and better deals are out there right now if you are willing to search.

A few hundred over invoice? Congrats! I did consider red, but the blue has been calling to me since I saw the RS debut at the 2015 NY Auto Show, which I was covering for work. The red is beautiful, but I went with my instinct.

I would LOVE to see it in October. I think the dealer said 6 months because he didn't want it coming later than he assumed. I guess he was playing it safe. I'm prepared to wait until January or even later, but man, an October delivery would just blow me away. Ford did say it's coming out Fall 2017 so hey, who knows.

Good luck selling your '16! I'm sure you can find it a good home here!

Truth! As a dealership employee I bought mine when there was hype and I had to pay sticker versus the $5000 over at the time. If I would have waited I probably could have got for invoice. 2016 will have some added value because the initial run was cut short.

You and I both know that the difference between MSRP and invoice is not the only place dealers make money on new cars. But sure, $2800 is a not a ton above invoice.
No you and I don't both know that. People have a perception that there is all this money and it's not! Other vehicles have more markup than others. Markup means nothing of people aren't willing to pay it.

No you and I don't both know that.

I know you guys, and I know your livelihood depends on being able to sell, but the days of bending consumers over backward are slowly coming to a close.

Setting aside the fact that I personally know exactly where dealer profits come from in all aspects of sales and service, please explain to us this: financing aside, how does almost every brand and dealer nationwide, sell a ton of cars either at, or under invoice every year and still turn a profit on those sales?

1st - this edition is limited try to buy one and see when Ford tells you "no" also if it was only stickers/paint no one would care but...
2nd - for once it does have a mechanical difference that matters, if you think RS buyers don't care about a limited slip you are in the wrong forum and bought the wrong car, it's ok it's normal you only know RS Focus since 2016 while in Europe we had them for the last 14 years, I'm sure a Golf GTi would please you better
3rd - the base value of the car is higher than the normal RS, now I don't know how the market works in NA but in my country when you want to sell a car the only thing that matters is it's base value without options, because the 2018 integrates most of the 2017 options standard and has a higher base value it will be worth more when sold, that's how it is for us here ;)

I'm not even sure I'll get my 2018 I may end up with a 2017 but anyway I sure do read a lot of jealousy and misplaced business talk in this forum, we get it you want to sell your in-stock 2017s no need to be aggressive towards forum members

I'm happy for you RSNBMR hope you'll get it asap and please post how the handling is with the limited slip

Thanks! I'd like to get to the point where I can actually feel the difference with the limited slip, but that will be after a nice break-in period, of course!

I agree that it's all about the base value here, not the options. The great thing about the 2018 is that there were very few options available, since almost everything comes standard.

I hope you get your 2018! :courage:

Update: Build date is set for 8/21 :)

That's my build date as well. RR.
Nice! I was on the fence between RR and NB for so long and I know I'd be happy with either one, but NB had a very slight edge for me, so I went with that. It wasn't an easy decision!

I had no intention of purchasing a 2018, but I had an opportunity present itself for a 2018 at just a few hundred over invoice. So I decided to put a deposit down on it. Ordered it in Red....no other options. So you may be seeing my 2016 for sale soon, I would rather try to sell it here rather than Carmax or a dealer.

To the OP, congratulations....if your build week is in August, I would think you may see the car in October.....
Hey Guaji. I hope you're right about October! The last build date was 8/22 and I believe the car is on its way to the Belgium port as of 8/28. I think it'll be on a ship that will get it to NYC on 9/15, but I have no idea how long it will take to clear customs/inspection etc. and be shipped to the dealer. If I'm driving in October, I'll flip the hell out. I was prepared to wait until early 2018!

The only thing I can think of that may delay shipping from Europe, is if they wait for a certain number of cars to put on the ship. Once it arrives in port who knows how long until they release it. I know in the spring 2016 waits of a month were not unheard of. Hopefully no mods need to be done at the port that would delay the process. You are fortunate that you live near the port. I am certain the cars arrive at the port across I-95 from Newark Airport.
