Build date, etc. for my 2018 NB RS :)

Hello All,

I put down a deposit on July 10 for a 2018 Focus RS in Nitrous Blue with a moonroof, and also threw in the winter tire and wheel package and the car cover (everything but the Cup tires). Got it all at MSRP.

My dealer emailed me yesterday with a build week: 8/7/17. He says we should have a VIN and build date next week or so.

This guy has been cool from the beginning. He let me test drive a new 2017 RS, which was my first time getting behind the wheel of one. I made the decision for the '18 before we got to the end of the block. He also handles all the Raptor and GT350 sales at that dealership, so I know I made the right decision to go with him.

He said it should be about 6 months from when I placed the order, so January 2018 is a safe expected delivery date. I'm anxious but also excited of course! I've been without a car for 7 years (my last one was a 2007 WRX STI lease) - I can do another few months :rofl2:

Cheers!

Thanks for the input, guys. I did consider a '17, but when they announced the 2018, I jumped on it. I don't mind paying up to have the final year RS and the LSD is a nice addition. I crunched the numbers and figured out it's a good deal to me.

-A 2017 RS in Nitrous Blue with the moonroof, RS2 package, and the premium forged wheels comes out to $42,765 MSRP, including destination. These are all options I want regardless.

-I'm paying $43,585 MSRP including destination for the 2018 RS in Nitrous Blue with a moonroof, and that comes standard with the RS2 and upgraded wheels. It also includes the Quaife limited slip diff ($1,200 on the Monotune/Ford Performance sites, not including tools and installation). Okay, you can probably find it cheaper somewhere else, but you'll pay for labor. And then the 2018 also includes the carbon fiber interior accents (which I don't really care for, but they aren't cheap) and the blue RS center caps (which I do like and go for $40-$60 EACH). I also dig the black roof, spoiler, and mirrors. Even at $2,000 below MSRP (I can't imagine this would be easy to find), a 2017 with these additions would actually come out to roughly the same as the 2018. I'm in no rush and it's more than worth it to me.

Well, I read they are producing the the GT350 for 2018, so maybe we should both go for it! :p

I had no intention of purchasing a 2018, but I had an opportunity present itself for a 2018 at just a few hundred over invoice. So I decided to put a deposit down on it. Ordered it in Red....no other options. So you may be seeing my 2016 for sale soon, I would rather try to sell it here rather than Carmax or a dealer.

To the OP, congratulations....if your build week is in August, I would think you may see the car in October.....

Hey Guaji. I hope you're right about October! The last build date was 8/22 and I believe the car is on its way to the Belgium port as of 8/28. I think it'll be on a ship that will get it to NYC on 9/15, but I have no idea how long it will take to clear customs/inspection etc. and be shipped to the dealer. If I'm driving in October, I'll flip the hell out. I was prepared to wait until early 2018!

A few hundred over invoice? Congrats! I did consider red, but the blue has been calling to me since I saw the RS debut at the 2015 NY Auto Show, which I was covering for work. The red is beautiful, but I went with my instinct.

I would LOVE to see it in October. I think the dealer said 6 months because he didn't want it coming later than he assumed. I guess he was playing it safe. I'm prepared to wait until January or even later, but man, an October delivery would just blow me away. Ford did say it's coming out Fall 2017 so hey, who knows.

Good luck selling your '16! I'm sure you can find it a good home here!

1st - this edition is limited try to buy one and see when Ford tells you "no" also if it was only stickers/paint no one would care but...
2nd - for once it does have a mechanical difference that matters, if you think RS buyers don't care about a limited slip you are in the wrong forum and bought the wrong car, it's ok it's normal you only know RS Focus since 2016 while in Europe we had them for the last 14 years, I'm sure a Golf GTi would please you better
3rd - the base value of the car is higher than the normal RS, now I don't know how the market works in NA but in my country when you want to sell a car the only thing that matters is it's base value without options, because the 2018 integrates most of the 2017 options standard and has a higher base value it will be worth more when sold, that's how it is for us here ;)

I'm not even sure I'll get my 2018 I may end up with a 2017 but anyway I sure do read a lot of jealousy and misplaced business talk in this forum, we get it you want to sell your in-stock 2017s no need to be aggressive towards forum members

I'm happy for you RSNBMR hope you'll get it asap and please post how the handling is with the limited slip

Thanks! I'd like to get to the point where I can actually feel the difference with the limited slip, but that will be after a nice break-in period, of course!

I agree that it's all about the base value here, not the options. The great thing about the 2018 is that there were very few options available, since almost everything comes standard.

I hope you get your 2018! :courage:

Update: Build date is set for 8/21 :)

#49 ·
Funny, wehn I tried to chat with ford at that site they basically said "sorry, talk to your dealer"... Ive worked the notes on that thread since I placed the order, but the build date hasnt changed once since it went to 8/21. which its supposed to change when it actually gets on the truck to Belgium. Anyways, if yours was built the 22nd, it means mine is right there with it, so :) And since mine is going to East Coast port, Im feeling pretty lucky.

You can always wait a day or so, and try Ford Chat again. I got different operators each time. You can also try Ford Performance here: https://performanceparts.ford.com/contact-us/ - they gave me pretty much the same info.

I hope we're on the same boat...literally! :fat:

update, Ill post here since our cars are so close together. build date was the 21st and stayed that way until yesterday. It changed to 8/31. Im thinking this means its finally on the truck. Anyone know when the next boat to New York is?

#56 ·
I think this is the right shipping schedule:
http://www.nykroro.com/documents/RTW-AFCON/RTWwk35.pdf

Looks like the next ones leaving zeebrugge for NY are:
Sep 6th (Aphrodite Leader) arriving in NY on Sept. 15th.
then
Oct 5th (Cygnus LEader) arriving in NY Oct 16th.
then
Nov 2 (Cassiopeia Leader) arriving in NY Nov 13th.

So I would say we need to check for our window stickers around Sept 8, October 7th or November 5th (ish)

Yup, that's the one. I've been tracking the Aphrodite Leader in real time for a couple of weeks (it's actually kinda fun). It's currently docked in Bremerhaven and should be at Zeebrugge within the next 48 hours. I'm sure our cars are at the port there by now. Now we just have to hope they make the cut and get on that boat.

#58 ·
Did your build date change? Mine was 8/31 before the weekend, now it's 9/2. Kiii m guessing that either means it went from ready to ship to shipped by truck, or from shipped by truck to arrived at zeebrugge.

#60 ·
Just checked and my last date is still at 8/28. I'm not sure why yours changed but your suggestions sound about right. Aphrodite Leader is scheduled to get to Zeebrugge at 3:30 p.m. local time tomorrow (Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. ET). It seems there's always a small delay and that doesn't necessarily mean it will actually be docked then. It won't start loading a few hours after the scheduled time, so I think you might still be good. It's only a few hours' drive from the Saarlouis plant to the port, so even if your car is still on the way, cross your fingers!

Armando, may I ask where you got that shipping schedule? This one: http://www.nykroro.com/documents/RTW-AFCON/RTWwk35.pdf
I have this schedule: http://www.nykroro.com/documents/US-USCX/USCXwk35.pdf - which I got from here: Schedules - NYK RORO. Looks like the same stops and all, but it's a bit different otherwise. Thanks!

Thought I'd share this with you guys. Finally got confirmation it's actually left the plant.

I've got a 730 credit score currently. But lots of variables have affected the finance agreement. Such as annual income, the time period in which I've had my most recent job, etc. So it's no surprise that they gave me 4.99% but I will definitely do some looking around and try to find a better rate. I'm anticipating to have the vehicle paid in full within a 3 year time period so I'm not fully concerned about it.

Hey all. Just an FYI, the NYK RoRo schedule has been amended, and Aphrodite Leader will be docking in the U.S. a bit later. I sort of expected this when I saw that it didn't pull into port at Zeebrugge until 9/6, when it was originally going to be 9/5. So now it will be at Newark/NY on 9/18 and Jacksonville on 9/20 - barring any more delays, of course!

Not sure if the tag works, but here's the schedule. I'm thinking Oct 5th Cygnus Leader?

I finally got my VIN! Been following this thread and decided to make an account.

Placed the order 6/29. I received word that my car was being sent to plant around 8/16 and ETIS is showing the build date as 9/2. Wasn't able to track it as well as others because my dealer just gave me the vin today. I'm hoping 9/2 is the shipped on date and mine is included in the first batch!

Keep the updates coming!

Congrats Tom! I'm glad my thread is bringing in some 2018 guys! The ship left from Zeebrugges a few hours ago, and I hope your baby was on it!
