This deserves a separate thread and discussion:

Says it fits the RS 4WD gearbox: https://shop.quaife.co.uk/ford-focus...ential-gearkit

@RocketRS brought this up, so I did a little digging. What a nugget!

**Coming soon**

Key features of the QKE46Z:

  • Compatible with both ST250 2WD and RS 4WD gearboxes
  • Gearkit reuses original bellhousing from donor gearbox
  • Drum style shift mechanism for fast, reliable gear changes
  • Retains OEM clutch, differential, driveshafts and mounts
  • Optional Quaife ATB differential
  • Strengthened outer casing
  • 5 wider than standard gears for additional strength
  • Choice of straight cut or helical gear ratios, and 1 straight cut & 2 helical final drive options
  • New generation of gearchange mechanism allows fitment into front or rear wheel drive configurations
  • Compatible with flat shift systems
  • Includes oil temprature sensor
  • Supplied with either a manual lever and cable or air actuator for paddleshift

I suspect it will be PRICEY.

I have had a Quaife 60G 6 speed sequential box fitted to my race car, an AE86 Toyota for the last 3 years, the gearbox has been faultless, I also know a few people that have been using the 60G longer than me and also no problems. The shift is so, so nice. The 60G is available with a huge number of ratio variations, the ratios I use are 2.400, 1.842, 1.482, 1.260, 1.104 and 1.00, they work perfect for my local track and keep the engine always on the boil.

Not to mention that you'll probably have to goto a standalone ECU to run it properly.

The car is a manual now and does not care what gear it is in, no need for a different ECU.

This is DEFINITELY on my "it's 10 years from now, my car is 10 years old, and i'm much richer" list.
It's so badass that something like this is already in the works for this car!!

It also says coming soon. Maybe they haven't finalized the price yet?

Most likely a combination of packaging, weight and cost.

A strong 6 or 7 speed gearbox will weigh more and requires more space. When you figure that you're likely already talking close to 15k between the gearbox, ECU and calibration Quaife probably kept it at 5 speed to have the economics work.

In my AE86 I use an Autronic SM4 ecu for the engine, but I use a Geartronics module to send a signal to the Autronic to do the ignition cut. If te engine was carbed or if I wanted to cut the coils directly, I could use the Geartronics module to do that.

Sounds like a nice setup. What kind of maintenance have you had to do on your Quaife gearbox

Just checked Quaife web site - still says "Call for Price"

This would be so rad!! I've gave it some thought to install one on my STi just so I have a chance at keeping up with the RS lol.

This is not a group buy type of purchase. [emoji23][emoji51]

This is a hardcore one-off type purchase by a well-off buyer. I'd guess 10 people on this entire board would actually buy.

My money is on is on 5 pieces. Maybe 10 if we drag the ST peeps in too.

Eta: unless some bottomless race team jumps in.

:see my bottomless race team comment above.

Some boxes are a bit more universal and thus a bit cheaper. I've got to expect our PTU box is "special". At least more special than a rwd box that can be converted to various configs just by swapping bell housings.

Just a side note:

A sequential could be streetable. Light to light could get overly exciting though.

A dog box manual?... No. I mean it's drivable, if you don't mind double cluching constantly and revving like your at the track...

Imagine instead of sycnros helping you get between gears, you have 4 large gnarly dinosaur teeth grabbing at things. Jup, that's a dog box. Lol.
