What's this I hear about the Recaros in the show car not coming to the US? Anyone else hear this? It's not a deal breaker for me but that would kinda suck. I heard it from a reputable friend but don't have any references other than that.
But with this logic we're assuming that the ST3 seats are crap...which they are not, right? I have an ST1 and love my seats for what they are. They seem pretty durable. If I'm saving a few grand from the EU version because of the seats and a couple other things I'm cool with that. As long as we get all the identical performance goodies. In 2008 I bought a new 2008 WRX STI and it (and all of the 2008 models) had seats that were compromised for a $35,000 car. I don't need Ford to copy Subaru on this. As for not buying the car for the seats, I understand what you are saying, but believe me, the value of a compromised RS will be less than an RS which has the same or equivalent seats as any other other RS if you go to sell or trade it. And yes, the cheap seats was a factor in our getting rid of the STI (14,890 miles). We tried to get Recaros for it, but we could only get Recaros minus the side airbag. Guess what. My insurance wanted no part of that upgrade. If the Focus RS comes with the Focus ST seats or other seats with the separated head restraint, I'll keep my 2013 Focus ST and get a Shelby GT350 - which will have an integrated head restraint. My lesson from the STI (people were discussing this problem before I got my STI, so I was aware of it.) is that yes, the seats do matter - live and learn. Once the newness is gone, the quality of the seats is a day to day concern, and having experienced this once already, I'll not be foolish again in thinking that I'm not going to care about the quality of the seats. Furthermore, seat quality was a huge topic on many Corvette website for years. Those who did not own and drive a Vette couldn't understand the problem, but those who did own and drive a Vette knew that the seats were not up to par. Finally, GM provided the quality that the Vette should have had for years and years. I don't want Ford to make that same mistake on the Focus RS, and you should not either.
With ST1 seats, how are you even staying in them while cornering on track? The ST provides enough lateral grip, even with the goodyears, not even talking race tires, to push hard on the ST2/3 Recaros. I don't even want to think what the RS can do.Neither I nor my wife like leather seating (either auto or household furniture in leather) and she was uncomfortable in ST3 seats almost the moment she sat in them for a test drive. If the RS is released with ST2/ST3 seats then at least we can purchase a set of ST1 seats to use in their place for daily driving and switch out to ST2 seats for the few times I have the RS on the track. The very first comment my wife made when I said we were buying an RS was she hoped they didn't have ST2 or ST3 seats.
Woah, Woah, the Recaro's were taken out of the Evo X in 2015?? That's insane! To me, it's not an Evo with out the Recaros!I don't get the thought process of NHTSA- "we will forbid Recaro shell seats in this upcoming focus RS in favor of rental car quality seats, I mean it's not like they can buy aftermarket brackets and seats anyways". They did the same crap with the 2015 X, swapped out the magnificent recaros for some lancer seats
Yeah and it still costs the same -_-Woah, Woah, the Recaro's were taken out of the Evo X in 2015?? That's insane! To me, it's not an Evo with out the Recaros!
Hell, my 2003 Evo 8 had essentially the Recaro shell seats that are in the new RS.
I'll live if the RS' seats same as the current Focus ST seats and I could live with the Mustang seats as an option as well.
BOOSH! Give me a stool and a bicycle helmet if your going to knock $2,500 off of the price tag.Yeah and it still costs the same -_-
Depending on the price of the car, I may justify lack of recaros.
They look like seat covers. Those don't even look finished
