Randy's linkedin still says Mountune.

He was on here a week or two ago offering to help someone out with a tune. I imagine he's busy on other projects or COVID has changed how Mountune is doing business right now.
I didn’t pay attention when I saw a post on Facebook. It was about tuning and referred to Randy as “Used” to work with Mountune.
Looks like he is working with people on Facebook directly.

I got the scoop today. Mountune is not doing tunes anymore and they let him go. He's going to start his own business. Anyone looking at a tune should wait and support him. He does awesome work.

@Focus112 and @JamoRS thanks guys. It's a shame, but perhaps a fortuitous opportunity for Randy to set up his own shop. I saw that Mountune is offering canned tunes now like some other places where they modify the tunes based on your mods.

Update time 🥳

I have a new oem downpipe v clamp
Mountube stiffer hangers almost here.
Mountube V2X catback arrived today.

The catback is not new. It has about 7 months on it so pretty new. Box arrived in good shape and when I removed the muffler it had a rattling noise. So i moved it left right up down sideways until I found it. o_Oo_Oo_O:rolleyes:

I used duct tape to secure it. Judging by the size it looks to be 3inch diameter. So it will not come out.

1. Aways been inside ..= quality control

2. unwelded itself... poor weld. Which is surprising since welds looks awesome on the outside. Looking at edges of that circular piece I wonder if it was welded.

Is that a piece sheet metal that was punched out where the exhaust pipe attaches to the muffler? Maybe you can use a reciprocating saw to cut it or a torch to heat and bent it to get it out. Crazy...

It's a QA thing. When I got My Roush intake pipe, there was still the circle plastic piece where they punch the inlet for the PVC fitting.

I can just imagine if I did not check the unit and just installed it on what it could have damaged.

So you would all agree it is not part of the system... as in was welded inside to serve some purpose?

I looked at many images online of cut open mufflers... don't see one that would have use of this peace.

yes, looks like they dropped it in when punching out and that was that lol.

not sure how to safely get it out though

It was a punch/cut out. No purpose.

Bend/cut it to get it out.

Extended long nose pliers to bend and fish it out?

Maybe with enough heat. But he probably won’t be able to bend it with pliers alone.

It sure looks like it was a punch and shouldn’t be in there. But I have no idea what the inside of that muffler supposed to look like. All I can think is the punch was hanging on by a small piece and the welder didn’t see it. You have some luck.

Yes, looks like done with a plasma cutter.

I have now installed the Mountune V2X catback. It sounds nice idling. Also when driving in town i need to avoid stepping on it cause it gets loud ( Has a catless downpipie)

Glad this is out of the way:

It is a tight fit at the mid section. If i push up by hand it hits but driving it did not touch. I'm guessing engine pushes exhaust down not up so mothing to worry about.

I did a log, and sent it for revission. I looked at it and compared to the last log.

  • New log done at 10 degrees farenheit hotter outside and more humid.
  • cobb torque estimate i know is not accurate but being that its on same engine before and after exhaust i see before 490 ftlbs after 475 ftlbs
  • 22 psi by 7000rpm and it holds boost slightly better.
Now i wait for tuners feedback.

You still got 1 psi to go to the Ford recommended value :D.
