Tested out the snows and the AWD today. Really pleased, car was nice and secure and even with some boost and all fours spinning it tracked straight and true. No donuts or drifts yet - need to find a good lot first.

Be careful in the snow... snow and ice have gotten into my skid plate and caused it to separate - not happy about that

There's a few others reporting this as well....there's a guy that makes aluminum skid plates to avoid this.

 

I posted a thread in the pictures section, but the short answer is yes! The car is great in the snow. Not so great in FWD mode though. Make sure you disable ESC. I think the car got freaked out when I was doing an "in-place" donut last light and the car went into AWD-OFF which made for an interesting drive home on ice covered roads.

 

Sport mode, esc off. Punched it from a dead stop on an unplowed road. Damn this car is fun! I am loving driving it in the snow. Just a bit worried about the undertray right now . . .

 

I took mine out with CUPs on, because it is a toy. Ill say although not the best launching tires made for awesome AWD drifts in the streets 80* angles corners we have at 25MPH. Have to clean it again and cover and put it back to sleep. couldn't help it. Wife said take out garbage and I said ummm ok cars in the way

Not me. The RS will be a non-snow driver.

 

@EvanRyan ...maybe for H-town. Though we're all about to get seriously cold starting in about 24 hrs. You guys "down the road a piece" will be pushing 40s. I think we're not set to get over the teens with wind chill factored. Sadly, it looks like everything is staying up towards OK border. Got my recovery gear in the truck just in case though.

 

Supposed to hit 24-25 degrees in the Bay Area this weekend.

 

Mines back in storage. It's snowing heavy again and has been -12 to-20 windchill most mornings here. My focus S loves it.

 

The car not truly designed for winter snowy weather.
Look how susceptible the front air intakes are and ground clearance.

If i have the choice I'd take something with higher ground clearance.

 

I've been having a blast in the snow with the car.

Just keep the wheels and front cleaned/thawed and things should be good.
