If your tuner didn’t mention the car wasn’t holding boost, not sure what you could possibly gain from this, especially on a stock turbo.

yeah, your tuner will tell you if you need one.

 

It is possible to stretch the envelope and max output of a tune, but it is usually minor unless you are going to change the type of fuel, ie, E30, on a stock turbo.

 

I'd also recommend staying stock if you are on the fence.
I'm in a similar position, but I recently bought a iwg cuz racecar

 

Don't worry about changing it. I was running my stock turbo maxed out with meth injection and I was fine on the stock wga.

 

saw dyno runs and numbers with the stock and aftermarket wastegate a couple times. the aftermarket one seems have a more steady boost output. stock one was a tad up and down but weirdly the stock put out slighty more boost at certain peaks. not much but just thought i'd put that in there. if i wanted a perfect car i'd put the aftermarket WGA on but probably doesnt make a whole lot of a difference semi stock.

 

If you are just bolt-ons then you will hit the limit of the gas before you hit the limit of the WGA. My waste-gate duty cycle still has room, and my boost is steady, but I'm hitting the limit of the octane (93). Once you add e30/e85/meth/etc then the WGA will help.

It is not worth the cost and effort on a bolt-on RS.

 

Funny...when I installed my WGA and cat-back, then did a dyno session, everyone blamed the gains on the WGA (and tune) vice the exhaust. There are several posts which show increased power under the curve and stronger graph lines. But, it's not gonna throw you back in your seat like E30.

 

You can bring the car in for service on the OEM file as long as they aren't going to be driving it around. It'll only matter if they get into boost with it.

 

Thanks for the feedback - yeah I think Im going to hold off on the WGA. Gnna see if I can return it or I guess just hold onto it since I already have it.
