If someone has advice on this matter I would really appreciate it!

I received my car back on Feb 2nd, however, they did not get supplement #1 in time. So... I received TA-29 Silicon Sealant vs TA-30 which the supplement calls for, also they did not replace the fuel pump hose or bolts. Is this a big deal? I called the dealer and at first they told me to call ford customer service. I called the customer service line and they said they couldn't do anything and told me to call the dealership back. I did, and after some persistence I was able to have him pull up supplement #1. He said the only difference between TA-29 and TA-30 is the color. I find that hard to believe. Now the supplement notes TA-30 or equivalent. I have been trying to dig up information on the two and can't find much. So... are they equivalent? Also, he was kind enough to have me go in again to check if they replaced the bolts and tube for the fuel pump. I am doubtful that they will know based on looking... but I am no expert. I feel like they are just going to send me on my way without doing anything. What would you do in this situation?

Thanks!

I dropped my car off this past Monday and went out of town for a few days. Back today and the service adviser said nothing had been done. He explained that there seems to be some confusion about my car because it was made late in 2017. They placed a call to Ford to see how to proceed and they will call me when they hear back. Now what I wonder?

Had an appointment to begin the process on Tuesday evening. Dealer called Tuesday morning, postponing the service until parts are no longer on back order. No idea when car will be scheduled for service.

I don't know enough about the technical details, but TA-29 and TA-30 are not the same. TA-29 is grey, and TA-30 is black. To know for sure what was used, look at the joint where the engine front cover(aka timing cover) and valve cover meet, there should be some silicone squeezed out.

Edit: found this
TA-29: https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubrica.../main/product.asp?product=Ultra+Silicone+Sealant&category=Sealers and Adhesives
TA-30: https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubrica.../product.asp?product=Silicone+Gasket+and+Sealant&category=Sealers and Adhesives

For everyone worried about the TA30 vs TA29 vs TAwhatever, it seems that Permatex makes it. Here is their list of OEMs they manufacture for and the associated part numbers:

https://permatex.com.ua/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Permatex-OEM.pdf

TA-29 is Permatex® Ultra Grey® Gasket Maker
https://www.permatex.com/products/g...asket-makers/permatex-ultra-grey-rigid-high-torque-rtv-silicone-gasket-maker-2/

TA-30 is Permatex® Ultra Black® Gasket Maker
https://www.permatex.com/products/g...makers/permatex-ultra-black-maximum-oil-resistance-rtv-silicone-gasket-maker-4/

It would appear (just off basics on the website) that the difference is the color and that the black meets "OE warranty requirements". Possibly designed to be stronger and more resistant to shop chemicals? Someone who cares more can dig on that one lol

Ya my adviser didn't know the exact difference but said I shouldn't worry. Worst case Ford gets me a new motor under warranty :)

I plan on tuning as well. As long as you do a safe tune and don't go crazy you should still be ok. Maintain a good relationship with your shop as they will be the one communicating with Ford.

Thanks for all the replys... so turns out after driving down to the dealer yesterday, they realized that supplement one was legit (and not just some made up "Forum" information). So they have the fuel pump bolts and tube on order. No ETA because of the backorder.

Damn, a lot of stuff to digest but I'm so grateful for this forum.

My first brand new performance car after daily an Evo 9, that's been passed around about 4 or 5 drivers, for about 4 years. Had to hunt for leaks, replace seals in an effort to fix leak, replaced throttle body, o2 housing, leaking intake hoses, bad sensors causing the tune to do wrong things, etc.

I'm still a huge rookie when it comes to performance cars like the Evo with a lot to learn and especially now with a modern performance car in the RS.

Bought it new off the dealership lot in Dec 2017, build date labeled on car is 4/2017 so I'm about 99% sure I at least have the wrong head gasket, though hopefully no damage or coolant leaks resulted, given the year range Ford disclosed the defect could of effected.

I clocked just under 2000 miles so far on the RS as of today. Not gonna lie, after about 500 miles, I started putting it in sport/track mode to see what the RS is about, getting into 5-6k rpm but that was before I knew anything about the head gasket. Now apparently there are additional supplements to the FSA so I'm almost glad I haven't taken the RS back to the dealership yet, however I'm not sure how severe this could be and if I should take it in ASAP.

I'm thinking about giving it another week or maybe 2 before I take it to the dealership for them to even pressure test it, just incase Ford finds any new findings that deems additional repair during the recall process, so , hopefully , my car only goes there once.

Hopefully there is no hidden damage due to the HG after driving the car hard. Haven't gotten any smoke out exhaust.

Plan on keeping car in normal mode until the dust settles and I get the RS checked/repaired.

How are others planning on going about this who haven't yet taken it back to dealership?

Timbo go get it pressure tested asap. Mine was bought Feb 17, built Nov 16. I'm at 3800 miles or so and mine failed the pressure test, new head, new headgasket to be installed when this dealership can get it in. Main thing you can do for now, just check the coolant on a cold engine.
