Damn, a lot of stuff to digest but I'm so grateful for this forum.
My first brand new performance car after daily an Evo 9, that's been passed around about 4 or 5 drivers, for about 4 years. Had to hunt for leaks, replace seals in an effort to fix leak, replaced throttle body, o2 housing, leaking intake hoses, bad sensors causing the tune to do wrong things, etc.
I'm still a huge rookie when it comes to performance cars like the Evo with a lot to learn and especially now with a modern performance car in the RS.
Bought it new off the dealership lot in Dec 2017, build date labeled on car is 4/2017 so I'm about 99% sure I at least have the wrong head gasket, though hopefully no damage or coolant leaks resulted, given the year range Ford disclosed the defect could of effected.
I clocked just under 2000 miles so far on the RS as of today. Not gonna lie, after about 500 miles, I started putting it in sport/track mode to see what the RS is about, getting into 5-6k rpm but that was before I knew anything about the head gasket. Now apparently there are additional supplements to the FSA so I'm almost glad I haven't taken the RS back to the dealership yet, however I'm not sure how severe this could be and if I should take it in ASAP.
I'm thinking about giving it another week or maybe 2 before I take it to the dealership for them to even pressure test it, just incase Ford finds any new findings that deems additional repair during the recall process, so , hopefully , my car only goes there once.
Hopefully there is no hidden damage due to the HG after driving the car hard. Haven't gotten any smoke out exhaust.
Plan on keeping car in normal mode until the dust settles and I get the RS checked/repaired.
How are others planning on going about this who haven't yet taken it back to dealership?
