Feeling slower than last year

It feels like my car is slower than it used to be. I thought to myself that it’s probably psychological but no! My friend can now keep up with me with his 2019 GTI rabbit. I then looked at datalogs from last year and compared them to some fresh logs from yesterday. I can clearly see a 15-20whp difference between the 2 but can’t find where the issue is… looks like oar is still at -1, ign correction at +2, boost and charge air temps pretty much the same.
oh and, I have a depo fmic installed, mountune recirculation valve and it’s tuned for 91oct by stratified.

anyone has any idea of what could be the cause for it? Maybe it’s just mental after all lol

thanks!

to make it easier for the other ppl who are going to respond, here are the screen caps. first one is old, second one is new

as you can see, your lb-min airflow is almost identical, your boost pressure is almost identical. your timing is almost identical, your wastegate duty cycle is almost identical, but your charge air temp is sliiiiightly higher. id say youve been running on the same tune/mods for 2 years and youve just become desensitized to it and either need a tune update to move from midgrade to premium, or throw some more parts at it.

or like nick said, do some maintenance. fresh oil change, air filter, spark plugs, check tire pressure etc. a good tune up can be worth 10hp

Thanks bud! Appreciate your analysis. Maybe it’s just me getting used to my tune lol. I’ll definitely have to install that meth kit… I live in Montreal area and 91oct fuel is the only thing we have. (Petro can sells crappy 94, but it’s not worth the extra 50cents/litre)

Could be fuel, I think it was this year companies were allowed to do winter blend fuel all year, and because it's lower quality and cheaper to produce, that may be the reason

As others have said, just perform some basic maintenance. Do an oil change and clean out the air filter. If you haven't replaced your spark plugs in a while, you should replace them. Also make sure to gap the plugs to whatever your tuner recommends; factory Ford plugs usually have too much gap versus what tuners recommend. Even if the old plugs aren't terribly dirty, replacing the plugs will immediately improve the motor's idle and acceleration.

Another thing I'd also recommend is to run the fuel tank low and then fill up with some race fuel (100+ octane) if it's available in your area, then beat on the car a bit. It'll be rough on the wallet but running some very high octane fuel through the motor once in a while is a good way to clean it out, since fuel quality is a really big hindrance on power.

I just changed the plugs this spring and they were all pre gapped to 0.026’’. I gotta admit, I neglected my air filter and will give it a good clean. It’s too bad we don’t have really good gas here in Montreal, quebec. Maybe I could buy a can of racegas octane booster to give it a try…

Always go to a gas station where they have a sticker stating Tier1 fuel. I prefer Chevon or Texaco and in Texas, we have 93 octane.
And yes, after driving your car with mods or whatever, the degree of slowness will increase. Then we want more. We all have the "disease" 🤪
