Hello all! EFI Logics is an automotive performance shop based in Bethel, CT. We are well known for our extensive Subaru engine builds and tuning. We have recently picked up a Ford Focus RS with the intentions of modifying it at different stages and posting the results. With us doing so we hope to share a large amount of knowledge and support through our shop. Currently we are putting miles on the car before we put it on the dyno for a baseline power figure. We also plan to put the car through heavy track use to see what we can do to better improve reliability as well as performance for the everyday driver who tracks his car on occasion.

The car is a Shadow Black RS2 '17, It will eventually become a dedicated track car. Only modifications planned as of now will be a COBB protune and lowering springs.

As a former STi owner from North Jersey I was wondering when and if you guys were going to jump in the RS pool. Nice to have someone fairly close if I want a pro tune. Welcome...look forward to seeing what you guys come up with and if you need any additional test mules just shoot me a pm. For those of you who don't know who EFI is, they are a very well respected company in the Subaru community. I personally know more than a few people that they have done work for including full engine builds and all give them high marks.

Today we will be corner weighing our RS, pictures and information to come later.

Thanks for the kind words, and I will keep that in mind. We will be doing a baseline, an off the shelf flash, and then a final pro tune on a stock car to see how they compare. So maybe that'll help you decide on whether or not to get your car on the dyno.

Welcome! Love the diversification of respected companies getting involved here to push the platform!
Thanks! It's what we are aiming for.

Today we corner weighed the car

3450lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas, shes a big girl.

with a 200lb driver, it really throws off the LR of the car as you can see below by 80lbs. This is something we will adress when the car becomes more track focused(heh)

with a 200lb driver and a 200lb passenger, the car becomes almost perfect balanced, although at 3860.

overall, we are pretty impressed with Ford and how little work we will have to do to get this car balanced.

So heavy for a small car. save relocating the battery there's not much else to be done to take weight off the front. a nice cat-back exhaust, and un-sprung weight will helpoverall, but trying to get the weight closer to 50/50 f/r sounds like a daunting task.

trying to get f/r 50/50 is not our goal. The cross weight being 50/50 is our goal. The side to side being 50/50 is our goal.

So glad I came across this! I gave you guys a few calls a couple weeks ago looking to get my RS on the dyno just to see where I'm at. Unfortunately you must have been busy I got the machine. Have quite a few miles on her and a tune from Justin over at Twisted Tuning. Other than that a full set of engine mounts turbosmart bov and wga and montune short shifter. If you are looking for another mule I'd love to rep your brand! Very pleased with the work on my ralliart nothing but love. Best of luck!

Thanks! what time did you call us? we are here 9 - 6 during the week, and 9-1 on saturdays. Just give us another shout we might be able to get you in this weekend!

Today we did the first oil change on our Focus RS. This week she'll be on the dyno for baseline, off the shelf tune, and finally a custom tune. I look forward to posting results.

Our Focus RS's final numbers with no aftermarket parts installed. These pulls are all 3rd gear. Solid line is our stage 1 protune, the short dotted lines are Cobb OTS stage 1, and the long dotted lines are stock baseline.

Final numbers are 276whp and 391wtq up from 243whp and 277wtq. we were surprised to see such a low baseline, but we did pick up 114wtq and 33whp with our pro tune.

Nice Job Guys!

Is there a huge difference over stock in the seat of the pants feel? any 0-60 times yet?

Amazing torque gains for only a tune on a bone stock RS. How any miles on it? Break in light or drive it like you stole it?

#17 ·
It's got about 1000 miles on it. As far as break in, it was a little of both, we didn't thrash it but we didn't baby it either.

As for anyone looking to only use COBB's off the shelf tune it is a nice and light tune, but we picked up 85wtq with a custom dyno tune OVER cobb's flash.

Doing the pulls in 3rd gear also means you see lower overall numbers. Doing pulls in 4th or 5th will inflate them. The delta is looking good, which is what the dyno is intended for.

Curious as to why there is so much left in the tune. I feel like they seriously limited power and tq from the factory for fear of grenading engines. Seen a few guys with minimal mods bending rods already. Really seems like a tune can wake the car up, but id be nervous to push the envelope with the stock motor.

Perhaps you could overlay an sti or evo graph with the RS's?

We installed our Borla Cat-Back and we picked up, about 10whp, i'm waiting on youtube on the sound clip. we installed a Mishimoto Cold Air Intake, super easy to install and great quality. The filter is of much better material than the stock filter and the tube gets rid of those "accordion bends" Our tuner was able to pick up another 19whp and 12wtq with a CoBB Protune.

We've been swamped at the shop so we haven't focused much on the focus. We did one track day at LRP and had a blast. The car didn't understeer nearly as bad we were expecting. after 6,500 miles of pure abuse, we did some dyno pulls and got a baseline for that particular day. We then pulled the plugs and found them to be way over gapped. Replaced them with properly gapped ngk plugs and found that we picked up 7whp and 22wtq over the previous pulls.

#45 ·
I would definitely check them at the very least and gap them down to .028. We went with NGK 6510 plugs. We only used NGK spark plugs.
