Oh yea...............subwoofers. Ended up going with a Rockford Fosgate PS 8 low profile powered (150 w RMS) sub. Thanks to thomwithah's advice/experience, and quite a bit from go7zilla's thread on his PS 8 install; mine went pretty darn smooth. Rather than engineer my own molex to mimic the one attached to the stock sub housing I pulled the stock sub and "questioned it vigorously" [I've got questions-------it had answers  ] with my 32oz ball peen hammer and Dremel tool. Salvaged the stock molex off that, and bullet connected and shrink tubed the speaker, hot, and ground wires together. I gave up all my intricate driver's side inner fender mounting plans......................................and slapped a couple of 1" x 4" male velcro strips on the bottom of the PS 8 and set it on the hatch area carpet butted up against the rear seat and inner fender panel. Sticks like glue!

The good news? When I turned the car and power on NOTHING went up in smoke! :p  Huge improvement over the stock sub---very pleased with the results!

Will the stock head unit in the rs handle a third party sound system? I have a 1500w amp and dual 1200w subs. Just wondering if stock head unit has signal wire and rca on back of the unit for these to.be installed...

Yes, but you need a DSR1 or iDatalink Maestro RR to interface with the stock system. There are no RCA outs or signal wire from the HU, you need to get that in the hatch from one of those interface devices.
