Run the VIN at this site. If it hasn't been done it will be listed as outstanding. If nothing shows up it has been completed. This applies to new and used vehicles.

 

This. Dealers are technically responsible for completing the recall before they're able to sell the vehicle, however some dealers have allowed customers to buy a vehicle with an outstanding headgasket recall and take it to a dealer of their choice to have the recall completed.

 

Dealers should do the FSA prior to delivering a new car to customers. I would think there is no deadline for performing the FSA on new cars and if there is, dealers should be responsible for doing it on their inventory. Remember that not all 2017 MY are affected, only those built before 07/07/17

 

If you have doubt on if the head gasket has been done, it can be identified with an inspection mirror. I bought my 2016 car lightly used, and while OASIS has no records of the work being done, and all 2016 cars should've had the wrong HG - I was able to confirm that mine was replaced with the proper one by physically inspecting the car.

I'm a little anxious about all the non-Ford dealerships selling used RSs now. I ran the tool on the VINs of some used RSs for sale at non-Ford dealerships and a *lot* of them don't have the head gasket work done.

I feel sorry for anyone who buys those cars after the end of this month...

 

That's 100% on the non-Ford dealer at that point, and honestly anyone looking to buy a used RS should know about the headgasket issue. Without the FSA done these cars without the work done will drop in value significantly - But again that's the dealer's loss.

 

I would imagine it’s fixed. They wouldn’t let me pick up mine until the recall was done.
