Conversely RACV their state sibling quoted close to $2,000. I also discovered as you delve deeper into the online process the pricing magically increases. The old sucking you in with an initially low number to get you hooked and before you know it the 'adjustments' appear.........

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Can all those who recently took delivery help those of us who are yet to, by listing which insurance company you went with, why, and how much??

I need to pull the trigger in the next 48 hours as I pick my RS up on Tuesday. I am in Victoria however I would be interested to hear about other states too.

Online estimate from AAMI was as low as $900. Youi closer to $1900...
Who else is worth trying in Victoria???

I went with RAA in South Aus, full comp $615. The reason I went with RAA was, after asking a number of crash shops they said they were the easiest and best to deal with........and turns out was the cheapest for me!!! I have all my other stuff including house insured with Shannons and they still wanted $1200.

I'm with Budget Direct and quite happy with them - Rating one for life and a great history. However paid a bit more than $900 - closer to $1150 once through the online upward steps. Depends a lot on your age, history, place of residence and any extras like hire car and windscreen replacement. Had a 2013 Focus ST which needed a new windscreen in the first year after meeting a stone and Budget Direct gladly replaced it with a genuine Ford unit. May not have happened in year 2, but on that basis I have stuck with them. They will probably try to increase the premium upon renewal, but can usually be won with a carefully worded threat of taking business elsewhere........

P.S. I wouldn't trust Youi as far as I could throw them after news reports earlier in the year of consumers wanting just a quote and they were magically locked into a contract. This revealed a culture of winning business at any cost. No thanks....

51 years young
Perfect Record Max NCD 10 years plus and no fines
Bankstown NSW
Shannons Quoted over $4000
GIO Quoted over $2900
All these are with $1100 excess and 5 year full vehicle replacement
If I was to go with no vehicle replacement I think about $2000 would be the price
@JahjaMan What suburb do you live in
Hey bud. Kingsford.

Suncorp in qld 680 comprehensive insurance

I am with Youi for my wife's car and home and contents. But NOT for the RS. They wanted $2300 after a discount down from $2900.
I shopped around for half a day checking with RACV and AAMI... Landed on Budget Direct. 2 year new for old. $40 glass excess.
Premium of $750p.a. with a $900 excess. 32 y.o. With no priors.

Boys, be careful with "new for old" replacement policies ...

These are good for normal cars, but a trap for us (and say performance Falcon purchases).

How are they going to get a new car as replacement, now or in three years?

The contract says they will give you a new car of the next badge available.

You'll end up with a new ST (no offence to ST owners, but not what you paid for).

With a car like this go agreed value.

I was advised this by someone with insurance and car experience.

I had new car replacement ... I now have Agreed Value. Over 60k.

I was told when I took mine out with GIO
They will replace up to 66k
If RS can no longer be sourced they will look at the top of the range Ford up to 66k or pay out RRP plus any extras insured

This is why i changed my insurance from Budget Direct

Whilst BD was clearly the cheapest roughly $700+ Agreed value was no where near the replacement cost - they offered the replacement new vehicle option, which is not really an option for an RS as they are pretty much all allocated here in AUS.

I went for NRMA with all the options..hire car, windscreen, NCB secured, AGREED VALUE $60k+, low excess.. policy was just over 1k.

Bumping this back up, for interest's sake. I, too, ditched Budget Direct as they refused to recognise my rating one because I'd relocated overseas for 2016 and had not had local insurance :suspicion: They also wouldn't increase agreed value above $52k.

I'm now with Real Insurance, who've accepted all my mods as well. 32 y/o male, unblemished driving history, living just out of Melb CBD, with windscreen cover and 20 days' car hire included, as well as $62.5k agreed value: $936 p/a.
