Hello,

I am not on here often, but I plan on contributing more to the forum. Here is a teaser video of my Focus RS winter drift from just one storm. I plan on adding to this and cutting it down to the best stuff. It was like 6 degrees and windy out so a bit bruta

I am a HPDE instructor for SCDA, Hooked on Driving, Chinmotorsports and BMW. I normally track my Nissan GTR, but I do take out my RS in the rain and sometimes in the dry. I plan on driving it more this year on track as I will be reserving my GTR for time trials this year.

I am working towards taking my drifting skills to the next level this year, and honing them on tracks. This is my first winter since 2013/2014 that I have had a fun winter car. I owned a bunch of STI's. My channel is AWDMASTI and I'm happy to work with anyone who is interested in getting into HPDE here on the East Coast.

I have vastly improved my skills with car control over the past 2 years and I plan on tracking the RS on street tires for this 2018 season so I can do more of that.

Anyway, here is a short clip. I will be adding a lot more and cutting out the slower parts.

Love my Ford Focus RS drift mode so much I made a "racetrack" on the front lawn of my rural home(Ontario Canada).Lots of work for my snowblower only to have two winter warm spells ruin my handywork...but tonight..the track is back in action

I can't speak for OP but we've had a lot of snow where I am and I have done tons of drifting. Personally I find it doesn't matter which mode as long as you turn off the ESC.

It's a blast!! :driving: and the RS is very predictable .

For me the best option is Track mode + ESC off
(when using drift mode I didn't feel big difference on snow and the car was not smelling nice afterwards :nightmare

And my tires are standard Nokian WR D4 (no studs)

Back in my day this drifting was called doughnuts. On snow it's a lot of fun and easy. On a dry surface it takes some skill. A bit ballsy of you on public roads. Don't care if your instructor it only takes one screw up. Now go try this with an Expedition talk about fun.

DId you need a rear tow point for this event? Did you ever get stuck in the snow banks and need a tow out?

I got stuck once. And ofcourse, I needed to be towed backwards. :chuncky: So I found out too late that there is no rear tow hook spot on the RS...
So we attached the rope to the rear left arm. Car was sitting on the "belly" so even tractor was struggling and i was quite worried about the arm... adding photo below :courage:

I could have really used this he other week. Did two weekends of studless awd class ice-x on a frozen lake. Took 2nd the first weekend and 4th the second weekend. The second weekend I had drive mode issues and were locked in comfort for a bunch of runs.

I have great car control and threading a needle mid slide is easy, but not fast. I need to be disciplined and drive slow to go fast

HaHa, ya back in my day we called it "power sliding" and "fish tailing " all the same fun tho :happydance:

I have some more driving videos with on my YT channel. I hope this year there will be more Focus RS videos from me (since I have the RS only since mid November 2017)
Although having different car for track use I will definitely try RS on track at least once. :smile-new:

Would you say the track was more ice than snow? It looks like traction is very low. Just comparing your angles to what I've been doing and ive been. Cant tell by the video, how fast are you going?
