I love the car but in the 6 months since I've owned it, it has become the most unreliable vehicle I've ever owned. In the past couple days I am now getting check engine lights for cylinder misfires and I had a message saying "AWD fault, service required." This is on top of my clutch issues, my ACM shorting out, the drive mode issues, the underbody panel issues, and so on.

I'm at 4000 and so far, apart from the two recalls, have only had to have the two side trim pieces inside the rear hatch replaced. Keeping fingers crossed!

That's something that only time will tell. You may have gotten a bad apple or you're just one of the first to experience all of these issues together. I agree that this is something that everyone who buys a 1st year model car should contemplate and it was something that I thought about before the purchase. In the end I obviously rolled the dice just like everyone else on the forum so we're all the guinea pigs.

I'll tell you what though. I do plan on getting on the car a little more than I have already in hopes that if there's an issue it will pop up sooner rather than later. I really don't want to be paying for head gasket repairs, random PTU gaskets/issues when the car is out of warranty. I have many aftermarket parts waiting to go on, but I think I'll keep that Cobb AP in the box a little while longer.

Only time will tell.

Besides creaks and rattles I've had no issues and I just passed 13k miles. OP, I really think your environment is exacerbating minor issues.

For example, I have gotten the "drive modes not available" error twice on cold, snowy days. However, if I drive a little more then try to switch modes again it has worked both times. But this is in PA where the weather is nowhere near as extreme as yours. If I were you I would hit up @TUNE+ for a exhaust valve bypass.

In regards the to the AWD error message. Did this happen when you were without drive modes?

And for the misfires, have you checked your spark plug gaps? There's a good chance the gaps are too big if they're still the OE plugs. Also check your battery voltage for any significant signs of deterioration.

The two trim pieces on either side of the window, where the parcel shelf strings attach, kept popping out and wouldn't latch in place. They just replaced both the trim pieces.

Its unfortunately a gamble you have to take for a 1st year production model. As an engineer, I'm all too familiar with trying to find issues during development, but the dev cycle is never long enough to catch everything.
+1, I've been twice offered earlier delivery (4 months and 3 months) than quoted for my order but I'm happy to wait until June/July for the exact reason quoted. I have always stuck to the addage never buy the first model of any car or bike. A bit hard with the RS for obvious reasons but it doesnt hurt to be patient sometimes. Big thanks to all you that jumped in early, seriously, you've done a lot of R and D for us.

Yeah, my buddy got a first year Brutale and it sat for like the first 4 months he owned it. It lost the computer like 2 days into ownership and took 3 months to get a new one in. After he got it back, like a week later he was on the highway and it lost the front wheel bearing, so it sat for another month.

He ended up selling it like a month later because he was too afraid of owning it.

I was honestly terrified of this car, because that's my first rule. I would say I have got very lucky so far with some rattles and the leak.

That's certainly the reason for the drive mode issues, can't imagine what else.
