Just an observation; but for some reason people driving the late model Civic Si love to bug me on Los Angeles freeways. Type R’s don’t bother; but the Si kids apparently have some pipe dream to achieve.

Anyone else get something like this?

STs mostly, both Focus and Fiestas, specially modified ones... they would pull up next to me, so I would throw a thumbs-up/peace sign at em, just for them to speed off. Maybe they want to prove to themselves that their "built" cars are better? (shrug)

Coming from the Subaru community, I do miss the camaraderie, I never owned an STI, but I did have a modified WRX wagon and later a BRZ, and I always got the "kudos" from anything from a Forester to an STI.

I actually had one this weekend. Drove Las Flores Canyon in Malibu with an ST buddy of mine. Super tight road btw...couldn’t go above 30mph; but LOADS of fun..

Anyway we were headed back home and a very flashy and loud ST growls up behind us. I give a shaka and he starts speeding around us on drive to, then along the freeway. Maybe I’m the old dog who just isn’t down for the 120mph freeway traffic dodging life-ended races anymore; but we didn’t bite and he sped off.

The old Japanese scene seems a little more peacefully engaging with my 1986 MR-2.

This is one of the downsides to the RS.
Driving to work, or going to pick up food, and everybody still thinks you are looking to race them...
And also, going by the speed limit in a RS, other fast cars will stay behind you, thinking you must know there is a speedcamera near by :D

In my WRX, I had all manner of jokers pulling up to me, Hondas, Dodge neons, pickup trucks. Now I get minivans, suv's and trucks that race away from stoplights if I am beside them. Last Fall I was driving to the Mecum Auction in Chicago and a Golf GTI pulls up next to me on the freeway and does some posturing. I ignored him so he took off. After a few seconds, just for fun, I pulled into the passing lane and gave her the berries. Pretty sure he had at least 100 more horsepower than me as that thing was gone. True Story LOL. I tend to wave and point at RS's, ST's, Subies, Evos and any kind of cool car or motorcycle that I see.

I used to live right outside Vancouver Canada. Overall a very rich city with a kind of ****ty car scene. People buy expensive enthusiast cars but actually don’t give a fûck. Solely purchased for “look at me my mom and dad are rich back in My homeland” kind of thing. So not a single soul gave two shîts about the RS.

last month I moved maybe 20 minutes further out to a way more farmland area. Everyone out here owns mustangs. Hellcats, etc etc. And everyone seems to love the RS. There is a tunnel about 5 minutes away too so people are always on it.

I find it’s always the ~18-20 year olds in their dads v8 cars who want to step up

the NB paintjob is not helping either.

My favourite was a Kia carnival. I came up to it reasonably quickly mainly because they were doing 10 under the speed limit. I wasn't up for a race or anything. In fact I barely ever do that. They must have floored it. Came up to a round about and they thought they could out run me from there. They did because The body roll left me in stitches. I quickly turned off to home to avoid an accident with that moron.

Pickups, or utes here, have the same issue - they are dead slow and are death traps. Don't know why they bother.

My favourite (but short) mountain pass, called the Macquarie pass, is full of people who won't pull over to the slow lane. A WRX was in front of a Commodore SS ute (the sedan was sold in the US as some sort of Chevy). Both were so slow in the corners but of course thought they could make it up by going well over the speed limit on the straights. The Ute was all over the place too, with the light rear end.

Almost anyone in a truck. I don't know why necessarily, but that is the majority.

I don't know what it is, but in 16.5k miles in the RS, I've never had someone pull up next to me on the highway and want to take a pull. I've gotten into some fun track battles with a 00s z28 and some other misc cars, but even on cruises with other hot hatches and cars, no one.

Even at the track the STI bois immediately give the point by while the CTRs just pull off the track (ok, the one CTR I encountered on track pulled off the track as I pulled up behind him)...

Anyway. I probably wouldn't take a pull next to another car on the highway anyway. Wowwwww, your modified whatever is faster in a straight line from 30 to 80 than my stock track focused car. cool story bro.

I’m definitely glad I chose black for my RS. A lot of people didn’t notice especially before I reapplied my RS badge on the hatch

Guys that know, know. I can spot a black RS from a mile away. Front bumper, rear exhaust & big wing are key giveaways. I suppose if you want everyone to see you, then just buy a Nitrous Blue Metallic lol

I run into the problem with a lot of mustangs, challengers and camaros wanting to race. They seem be a very popular choice around philly if you don’t have a civic or wrx.

I've noticed that it's somewhat related to your location as well. I live in a suburb near a major city but work at a more rural area. When I'm around where I live, no attention what so ever. When I'm near the city, more posturing and reving and trying to get my attention. When I'm around work, where there are long stretches of straight freeway, then I get more of the street racing crowd.

Location is a factor... San Diego is a crazy place to drive.... you will get run over doing the speed limit.

In regards of paint choice, I already had a black car in the past, as well as red.

For the LE version, either you go with red or Nitrous Blue..... never had a NB painted car before.

In my Abarth, I want to pull against everything though. Your Civic SI? Lets go. Your coal rolling Ram? Lets go. Your X5? come n get some. That's a deceptive little car. I need to put a scorpion on it to let people know this car means business. :p Also in the Abarth, it takes a bit more work and time to get to levels of speeding on the highway. haha
