i live in Singapore where the dealer is extremely strict and does not allow any flashes of the ECU and tuning or warranty would be void. can i check if i install COBB AP and uninstall it before sending the car in to the dealer, would the dealer still be able to see that the car has been flash / cobb installed and uninstalled before ? there is some sort of counter or code?

thanks

If you need to ask this question then you probably don't really need the extra power. Is the engine blown? why is it going for service? they wont void anything unless its drivetrain related

dealer warranty here is different from USA, i was advised by the dealer customer rep that because of Ford system being connected, flashing the ECU would potentially harm other parts of the car and so they would not honor the warranty of it.

i'm asking this question because this is my first performance car and first time venturing into tuning. normal maintenance service. you always need extra power, i've been driving for over 12 years and even if i'm a new driver, i could do with a more efficient remapping of the ECU.

that is the chance you take by tuning a car under warranty. i'd talk to a ford dealer that I wasn't planning on using for service, see what they say about it. At this point i'd venture to guess that as long as you didn't bend a rod, ford would replace the engine

Singapore is WAAAAAAAY different from the US in terms of warranty. Cars are also MUCH more expensive due to certification and tax costs.

Take a car here in the US, and triple the price. Thats about what you get in Singapore for a very general guideline.

If I lived in Singapore I would be very hesitant to flash anything.

Met a friend from Singapore who owns a Ferrari 360CS. After hearing what he paid I realized life in Singapore would never be for me.
If I lived there I'd be getting around on a skateboard or mtb, and hoping I don't get taxed to death for it. MTB tires are probably $500 each.

Cobb says unloading resets the flash counter and they don't know of a way its detectable, but said there way be a way they aren't aware of.

I tried verifying the reset and detectability with Cobb and they no longer want to discuss, suggested discussing mods with dealer.

This may be a dumb question, but does it just count the number of starts?

Could you just start the car lots of times to add counters ?
It counts the number of times the computer has been reflashed by you or Ford. Nothing to do with the number of starts.
