Are there any companies out there making tow hook covers that have holes in them so you can run a tow hook without removing the entire cap? I have seen this a few times like this, but haven't found a company or thread yet. Or are people drilling out the oem cover?

Why? I would be bothered by an open one with nothing installed but if there was a hook installed it wouldn’t look “empty”.

you can always stow the cover in the glove or under the rear hatch carpet so it will always be available to put back.

You can get some for 10% of the cost on eBay, but you'll need to paint to match it looks like. I THINK the Ford one comes paint matched to the RS trim. I believe the cover is the same as the Kuga which gets body color paint.
That's fair enough. I was just amazed by the MSRP on such a silly doohickey. This is considering that the entire front cover is somewhere in the $400-600 range on most sites.

Which one looks better - drilled cover or non drilled cover?
I'm not saying leave it hanging there.

Just remove it entirely and stow it in the Glove, or rear cargo compartments. Its where I keep mine when I install the tow hook.

You don't have to leave it hanging. Just squeeze the tabs and slide it out. No tools required to remove it entirely.

I won’t speak for everyone, but I don’t think I’m the only one wondering why you’d even consider drilling a cover to begin with.

The cover is small enough of a piece that just taking it off completely is barely noticeable if a tow hook is installed.

But by all means, do you. No one else’s opinion (but yours) really matters after all.

I wasn't asking for an opinion. I was asking (those who care about small details and have already done this mod) if the part exists or if they drill it themselves.

lol you literally posted "which one looks better". Three times.

There are no pre-drilled tow hook covers for the RS, likely bc simply taking off the cover and installing a tow hook creates such a negligible difference that it's not worth the time to make a hole in a small piece of plastic, even for those who appreciate the small details (like myself). And if any do exist out there, the owner hasn't posted up here on the forums as far as I'm aware.

But hey, go ahead and be the first to drill yours! Then share it with us so we can all answer the question burning in your mind...which one looks better. Preferably attaching a pic without having to click on a random link, thanks.

Oh I thought those questions were obviously rhetorical and sarcastic. If you actually need to answer that question after looking at both of those photos, you’re likely also ****ing your cousin.

You have contributed nothing to this post. You are just another cousin-****ing forum troll.

I for one thought the Op’s question was clear and justified…except maybe missing the part where he intends to run the front hook full-time (although it seemed as if it wouldnt make sens otherwise so it is kind of implied). I dont run a tow hook all the time but I do agree that when I do at the track (I remove the cover completely as suggested above), it leaves quite a big ugly opening in the front fascia around the hook.

I drilled my rear bumper/valence to fit a rear hook at ice driving events, since I drilled it myself at the bare minimum OD to suit the hook flange right after the threads, if fits nicely as one would like for aesthetic purposes (althoug my factory tow hook looks like sh**) but it would look much cleaner than the front without the cover on in any cases…fancy tow hook (like the expansive RaceEng? ones) would definitely look sharp if you’re the type to like such thing (I dont)!

Now if I was to run a fancy front tow hook all year I would definitely be buying a spare cover and drilling a hole to fit neatly around the tow hook shank. The OE ones at 100$ are too expansive and I would use the cheaper ebay ones (if they do exist, havent verified) and spray paint/coat or wrap it best I could to match the rest of the front fascia (not that it would draw much attention with a hook coming out the middle of it anyways!!

If there is nobody offering this solution pre-made I would go the DIY way as stated above and pointed by other members! Fit it with a cheap cover before you get into the hassle of color matching it then if you like the fit/look all that remains is to make it look better on the finish side of things!

Show us the end result when you’re done 🤘

I just happen to see a FB post of a photograph trying to gather people for a shoot.
Seems like the race red RS has pretty much done what you are trying to do…

Hard to tell for sure when zooming in but it definitely doesnt look like the big empty hole when you ditch the cover!
