love it. but a few things that turn me off about it...
  • 5 gears
  • messy console install look
  • no lever boot
  • the electronic down-shift when coming to a stop worries me
  • 105 temp limit for track...oil cooler needed

@big jim out of curiosity, have you ever managed to get into 6th on the track? I sure haven’t. So if the target demographic is strong af gears and proper ratios for motorsports I don’t see that being an issue

edit: just watched the video. Seems like a major upgrade from some of the other sequentials. One day man…. Fück I’d sell my other car just to get one

It’s really not a “street” item, but can be managed on the street if desired. It’s for serious racing purposes on a full built racecar. I want it! I’ll be looking into it a bit more…

Impressive, but I‘d never consider it for anything except the track. The noise in the cabin during the video is egregious, it would be fun for an afternoon and that’d be it.

Wish we could adapt the VW DCT to work in our cars.

Wish Ford hadn't ****ed around with that **** Powershift dry DCT and actually developed a real wet DCT.

If they had, I bet the RS would have dropped probably 3-4 10ths to 60mph and trapped about 3mph faster on average. Which would have made it basically THE God of Hatches when it appeared in 2016.

Why Ford & GM have avoided the DCT path for so long is something I'll never understand. Both companies have MORE than enough resources and technical knowledge to either out-right develop, or partner with something like Getrag to get it done.

Not gonna lie, when VW announced the Twinster like system for the new Golf R, I heavily considered looking at one.

I thought they mentioned that it was over £9k. That's an insane price. As interested as I would be for this for a track only option, I'd rather sell my RS and get a new Supra.

Yeah, it’s $9k. It can be had with helical cut gears for less noise as well, but helical are “weaker” than straight cut and induce significant side loads on bearings.

I'm torn. On one hand, having a sequential option for our cars is so "rally"/wrc. On the other hand, I kinda feel like it takes away from the driving "involvement" of rowing your own gears and orchestrating it with your clutch foot.

Kudos to Quaife for making it possible and providing such a drop-in option.

This is very cool. Nice to see the development. If my car was to become dedicated track car, I could see pursuing this. This also isnt cheap either. It would be interesting to know the ratios with it being 5. i do use 6th on some tracks, but mostly because my car's tune is so grunty down low. I cant recall what RPM i am at 135 in 5th... This would allow for left foot braking, which is not something i really do now. Would have to learn that. I have tried to learn that a bit but honestly those skills for me are in the early stage. Can i purchase just the display? :pThat is cool by itself. I would mount it very high up..

All the data, including gear ratios and final drive options are listed on Quaife web site.
