I recently had a Turbosmart Dual Port Kompact BOV TS-0203-1064 installed into my 2016 RS and I feel like the bov is venting alot at low speeds and when I have the cruise control on. Is this a normal thing? Also, I feel like the car lost a little bit of power after the install. It felt like it was faster before the install. I would hate to put the factory plastic piece back in and lose the blow off noise. Any ideas?

Hey FocusRS2016,

Have you looked at this Thread yet below that I've quoted?

TurboSmart BOV buyers - use the supplied Pink Spring!
http://www.focusrs.org/forum/16-foc...mart-bov-buyers-use-supplied-pink-spring.html

"So I purchased the turbosmart 50/50 dual port for my RS, and like others was surprised to find two springs in the box. Well I asked Turbosmart and I was told it was because the BOV fits multiple applications, and that in the RS I should be using the stiffer pink spring.

With the orange/pink one I had lots of part throttle/cruise venting and it was really annoying. Swapped in the pink spring this morning. Two full turns backed off from fully tight and the issue is totally gone now. The tone has changed a bit too. The vent time is shorter and is more of a chuff-pshhh combination than a drawn out pshhhhhhhhh."

Lemme know if this helps!

It's programmed to vent a lot, apply throttle and it will close. It may sound annoying but shouldn't hurt performance.

For starters make sure you are using the stiffer spring included. Second, if its venting more than you would prefer then you simply need to tighten it to reduce the amount of pressure being released. Lastly the rs has some special triple port technology someone was trying to explain to me a couple months ago, but long story short, it blows constant boost through the car when u maintain a speed for over like 15-30 seconds, and what u are hearing is the release of that boost. No way to fix it, simply the design of the car, pretty crazy honestly.

The BOV that I got from Turbosmart only came with one spring and it was already assembled. What spring do I need to get to make it work right?
Contact Turbosmart and ask them to send you a pink spring.

Or to fix the problem completely, get this:

BRA - Ford 2.3/2.7 EcoBoost - Black
TurboSmart revised the kit. Previously it was relatively universal so it included two springs. Now, it only includes one spring and also includes the boost reference adapter. Per TurboSmart, the singular included spring is what you want for this car and that you should install the BRA to fix the complaints that people are having. I haven't yet installed the BRA so I can't complain, but I'd say that without it the spring is too soft. It has no performance impact as you are reporting as the singular included spring is SIGNIFICANTLY stiffer than the stock spring.

The only way that your car could lose power after this mod is if you accidentally knocked a hose or something loose while you were up in there or if you didn't get the three attachment screws quite tight enough.

So I ended up buying the Boomba BOV and had it installed today. I like it much more than the Turbosmart as far as noise and it doesn't vent as much but I don't think I had the Turbosmart dialed in right. I have the Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port Blow Off Valve TS-0203-1064 up for sale for $160 if anybody wants it. It has about 1500 miles on it but it's in perfect condition and comes with the boost reference module and all parts. PM me for details if interested.
