Drive the wheels off my ST and buy either a Mustang or a F150. I do a lot of home remodeling in the summers and at some point, I really need a truck in my life. Holding out for the new Ranger but if I can't obtain a RS at a reasonable price, I might just take a break from the sport compact scene for a while.
I have a soft spot for a Ford Ranger and would seriously consider it as a second vehicle. Totally excited at the prospect of a new one here in the states.
Plan B is buy a crew cab truck, a trailer, a new engine (B18C5) for my 84 Civic, make it a full racecar (convert the rollbar into full cage & put rest of suspension parts I have in garage but not installed for road comfort on) and 2 sets of race tires (Auto-x and track) likely Hoosiers in 255/40R13+225/45R13 A6s and 225/50R13 Hooser R6s.
I'm honestly starting to not care that much about this car. If Ford wants to make it overly difficult to get one then I'll just wash my hands of the brand. I track but not hardcore and there are plenty of other fun, fast cars out there that won't require all this stupid ass positioning, jockeying, and begging for the "privilege" of paying for a car.
This is what might drive me to a 2016 STI ... I'm not going to be going through a bunch of bull**** to buy a car. I would prefer the RS though, hands down.

I love seeing all the fear mongering about getting one being so difficult, when no one knows how many will be available yet, just rumors from people in the know of an over/under of 8000. Yea, so maybe your local dealer won't get one, that doesn't mean it won't be available. Why don't we wait and see what is officially said...

I enjoy it as well, especially when people mention "leaving the brand" if they can't get an RS at msrp, wrapped in a bow with their name on it. ... I'm pretty sure if you're already cross shopping for other brands, you weren't ever really a part of the brand to begin with, and I'm sure Ford will keep on trucking all the way to the bank.
It is pretty awesome though to see people who are fanboys of sti's, evo's, the golf r etc drooling over the RS, even they were never truly on board to begin with, its nice to see people lusting after fords.
Did you decide if you want to put your money where your mouth is? Or is the bullsh1t still walking about the GTR? I believe I'll be in San Antonio tomorrow night
On a side note, what you've written below is borderline retarded at best, but from reading the other post(s) where you struggled to see someone else's point of view if it differed from your own, at least you are consistent.
If you decide to open your mind and you're willing to consider another perspective, I'd be happy to show you one.

It comes down to this - I don't have to deal with the bull**** that might be a part of getting a hold of a Focus RS. I want the car, that's true, but if you put all of these hurdles in front of me aside from the one which truly matters (being able to pay MSRP), then I will simply wait until the dealers get their **** together. If their **** is not together before the STi comes out with a hatchback and a FA 2.5L engine, then that's that.
Other cars on my plan B list:
- STi with a FA engine and hatchback (who the hell knows when this will happen)
- used Audi S4 with sport differential
- Mustang GT
- Mazdaspeed 3 only if it has a 2.5L SkyActiv turbo engine, and AWD (rumors)

I'll give you that, I was never a Ford guy. I had a used 80-something T-Bird back in the 90's that was a total POS. My ST got me excited about Ford and I have evangelized them quite a bit. I shouldn't have said "leave the brand" because your right, I'm not a real Ford guy like some of you...whatever. What I will do is purchase something else. I'll also hold a grudge against "the brand", just how I role.
the more I think about it, the more I realize there is no plan B.
its only a question of color.
sadly the dealer whom I have a tie to the sales manager turned me onto an employee who has turned out so far to be a turd.
need to scan for a salesperson who gives a ****.
