Hi

just been trying figure out which OTS tune to go for... only other mod i have done is a Ramair induction Kit

i have listed my choices as in "my preference" of high to low.... i would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has installed on their car

1. Pumaspeed MaxD out - they seem to have some great power outputs. such a pity its not a Cobb AP
Stock 311whp
Stage 1 354whp
Stage 2 374whp

2. Kaizen - quite expensive but at least you get a Cobb AP
– Baseline Numbers: 308.41 whp / 337.01 wtq
– Kaizen Tune Numbers: 334.08 whp / 387.45 wtq

3. Mountune M380 - i dont need the induction kit, i have already installed the Ramair kit (which is awesome btw:) )

4. Hennesey - 388hp (must be at the engine) Sounds promising but the guy sounds like a dodgy loser...judging by the munted comments he makes on forums (swearing and cursing customers online :()

5. Cobb Tuning - Good product but Rather Small gain 304 - [email protected]

If you wanna go for an OTS and not an eTune, just go for the Cobb AP that includes the OTS which will give you about 20whp but driveability changes substantially.

If you want a custom e-tune, i believe that for the same-ish price you can get the CobbAp from Tune+, DHM, Stratified , etc,etc (see post above for the tuners) and you'll get the AccessPort + a Tunning service. Those guys knows their stuff and get awesome results (~50whp) with Lots and lots of happy customers in this forum

I initially went with the OTS Cobb kit - My tuner found it to have 4psi extra with little modification to the map, and was running rich. Seemed like all they did was bump up the boost to get the claimed 15hp

I ended up going for a Custom tune and full breathing mods. Read my thread. Soon to do a full write up and video review Next week

Ive only ever dealt with Ben who does all the Evo's has a very good reputation. He's learning Cobb Pro Tune software, and what seems to be decent results. I can understand you hesitation, however there arent alot of guys here in Aus doing this now. Ive heard Pulse Racing getting good results. You could also have a chat with Precision Automotive Racing who is a specialist in Cobb Pro Tune software.

thanks guys....
lastly.....

is there any reason why you wouldnt recommend a OTS tune?
and is there anyone who has actually tried the Pumaspeed OTS tune?

im just curious cos it seems a heck of a lot easier....and i kinda hoped the guys overseas would have more experience in tuning these cars than AUs...

For us slower students, can someone explain what an OTS tune is, and how it differs from other tunes (e-tune or others?

it is an Off The Shelf tune, designed for a modest gain in performance with safety being most important. a Cobb protuner could use the ots tune and optimize it for max performance on your car or build his own from scratch

OTS is garbage, I'd rather run a stock map or a FPP/Mountune locked map than a Cobb OTS. Never once seen a OTS map that was worth a damn.

No problem it's all good he's not learning tuning..just the Cobb Software. I am going to get another map from PAR. See if there's much in the dyno's and tuning. I totally trust them both with my cars.
My comment still applies, I don't want to be anyone's guinea pig unless I get free parts out of it.

How is he tuning using Cobb's software? Cobb won't give anyone access to their access tuner program until you pass their pro tuning class and are an approved Cobb pro-tuner. Did he do all that?

I don't know if you can put Mountune in the Its catagory as they send you a prelim tune but with instructions to log and remote tune where Cobb says here's your AP us stage ? For these modifications and stage ? For these other modifications. Cobb makes good stuff I just think Mountune is way more than a OTS.
