i believe mountune was selling 68xx and 71xx spec turbos.

the 60mm "6062" precision turbo is rated over 800hp. hard to believe if our 63mm can only achieve around 500hp.

looks like best choice is the nx2, as its compatible with stock and most aftermarket intakes, exhausts, hot pipes, oil/coolant lines. guess thats why so many folks here have been getting them🤔

with the $ you save not replacing all those parts, you can install an upgraded fuel pump/injectors.

 

Yeah, but the NX2 appears to be quite laggy, at least from what I have seen on dyno sheets posted for that option, materially change the characteristics of the power delivery. Probably good for drag racing, but not really good for tight mtn roads where midrange matters.

Not really what I am looking for from what I can tell. Taking a ride with one would be good, but I dont know anyone around here that has an RS, much less one with an NX2 conversion.

 

Prob why jim is talking about upgrading injectors and pump, so he can run straight e85 to help bring it on faster....?
I had a big turbo on my evo, once it was tuned on e85 I had full boost (32psi) by 3800 rpm and you had to hang on for dear life. Such a quick and fun car that was.

 

I would have gotten the actual size of the stock turbo if I didn't just sell it. I also have experience with the NX2 and would say the lag isn't that noticeable over the stock turbo. I was also running full E-85 hitting 27psi-28psi between 3600-3800rpm.

there's a pic with the oem/nx2 side by side. the nx2 is like twice the size.

i would guess oem measures 35-40mm ?

 

I had found the specs on a Honeywell GT22 Turbo but I'm not sure if it's the actual size for the turbo on the RS.

Compressor- 40.2mm
Turbine- 50.3mm

But I would say it is around that size.

Yeah, that sounds about right! lol Chat GPT Facts! So GPT says the oem turbo is bigger than the NX2 drop in turbo.

 

Here are some pics of when I still had the stock turbo lying around, comparing it to a 6062 Gen 2 turbo. The turbine side looks half the size, if not smaller.
