Hello, I just moved to Waxhaw from Ohio about a month ago and am trying to get in touch with the local car scene. So far I’ve found cars and coffe Charlotte, but nothing else. Other than that I’m trying to decide if I should keep my stock rims or buy summer tires for my winter wheels as it appears I won’t be needing the blizzaks down here! If you’re interested you can see pictures of both sets and pictures of the results of my recent run in with a ditch on instagram @FocusRSone. Be warned they’re not for the faint of heart...car’s been down 5 weeks and 3 more left to go...I am dying without my RS so I have been spending all my free time planning the next stage of my build.

@RS One @Jones

Make sure to check out post 319 here: http://www.focusrs.org/forum/14-focus-rs-events/416-official-tail-dragon-thread-8.html

The next Dragon Run will be 21-23 September and all EB powered vehicles are invited. I usually use the forums to get the word out since I'm not a big FB user. (I have a shell account from a few years back)

This will be my 5th year attending the event and it's one helluva experience in the FoRS.

Time to get things stirred up here in the thread for the upcoming event.

Hi All,

Moving down to Chapel Hill from NJ and trying to figure out if I need to bring my winter tires along, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Hey,
Welcome to the Tar Heel State. I bought a set of winters when I bought my RS in August 2016. Never mounted them on the car. Of course the weather everywhere has been a bit wonky, so who knows. If you depend on your car to get to work or other important activities you might want to consider bringing the snows just to be on the safe side. It doesn’t snow here all that often or all that big, but when it does everything grinds to a quick halt.

@Maxpowers , welcome to NC. I ordered my car with winter wheels but I'm on the coast, so less chance of me needing them, but I have needed them and glad I had them. Not sure how the roads get in that area, but on the coast snow is so rare they don't really have the equipment to deal with it. So even a inch or two shuts almost everything down. The RS with snow tires on it is way better than my wife's Jeep with all-seasons on it. I had originally planned to sell the snow tires and just put all-season on those rims so that I would not need to drive on the Cup 2s all the time, but the dealer mounted them before I got to ask them not to so I just put them in the garage like that. Now I have a set of 18" MR-501s for my all-season tires since after that one need for the snow tires I couldn't bring myself to go without them.

The funny thing is that both RSs that the dealer I ordered my car from in Morehead City had both of the buyers order the car with winter tire/wheel set. Morehead is two towns over from me (25 minutes on highway) and more on the water with even less snow that I get.

Thanks. Appreciate the thoughts. It's our 2nd car and I won't be needing to commute. After talking with some friends in the Chapel Hill area, I've decided to try to sell them up here before moving down. If it doesn't happen, then I'll bring them along :D

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I just moved to the NorthEast area from Texas, I would be happy to buy these from you. Unfortunately, I am unable to reply to your post in the For Sale area. I am new to using forums and not really sure how DM's and thread permissions work, so just posted this here :LOL:
