I am writing this review as my mountune tuning adjustments performed by Randy, and performance modifications are nearing a close. The COBB APV3 is very easy to use, you plug it in your car, flash, choose the map and your set! From there you record your data according to instruction and send it back to Randy, He sends you revisions, you upload them onto your AP and reflash your car. A very fast and painless process. Record data and repeat until you revisions are complete. PROPER REVISIONS take time and multiple adjustments, be prepared for this. I'd rather have multiple revisions and safety checks for my specific car than one map and a your done have fun from a tuner, no thanks! Good job on this to mountune and Randy for personalizing your maps to you and your car. For supporting mods on car, my fuel, and conditions with data log revisions my RS is at its maximum output keeping safe running and operating conditions. There is always some risk to assume, however I feel confident that without pushing the car any further I will not have issues. The results are as follows according to mountune virtual dyno log. WHP:338 WTQ:390 CHP:405 CTQ:465. This is enough for me, and I am very pleased with the results driving the car it is obvious it is making this much power. THE CAR IS CAPABLE OF MORE, however it WILL come with a price as has been made clear to me which is why I decided I will not be requesting more power. If you are more of a risk taker, I would love to see how far they can push your car. If you are using 93 octane and have the same mods I do this is the best results you can expect within a reasonable limit, and let me say I couldn't be happier. I do plan after break in as I'm at 750 miles currently, to do launch control, and possibly track the car to check how the power translates to times on occasion, mostly I use my car for street enjoyment. Before the modifications the car is fast, after the modifications and the tune, the car is a MOUNTSTER (pun intended ;)). Randy has impeccable attention to detail, and only adjusts maps a small amount at a time so your tuning process is safe and as personal to your car as possible. He knows every car, fuel, and conditions are different and its clear in his tuning how much better the map gets after every revision. I am nearing the final map (maybe) it is made clear that your not done data logging until he says your done data logging and I love that fact because I know when he says I'm done, I'm really done, but as far as getting more power, its capped without getting into the danger zone and that's exactly what I was going for. The quality of all the mountune parts, and tuning process is second to none and I couldn't have had a better experience. I highly recommend the mountune parts, and having Randy tune your car to everyone. Now, comparison as far as driving dynamics stock to modded and tuned. Stock form the car would not spin the tires once you are already rolling or on shifts, with the tune while rolling if you WOT as soon as the car hits about 3500 RPM it is spinning the tires until it catches traction again or traction control kicks on, also the car has wheel spin on shifting into second gear, its obvious the power gains with the mods and tune. Boost and throttle response is much sharper and faster. Stock form the most boost I saw was 22-24 PSI and that was with overboost at higher rpm. Modded and tuned I'm seeing up to 28 PSI and I'm seeing this level of boost as early as 3300 RPM. The most notable character in response with the tune is the vehicles power output is now reflected depending on demand applied to the pedal where as in stock form its a very much WOT or anything else range. Currently the car has as much power output as is applied to the pedal for demand making the vehicle much better and smoother to drive. Stock form with the RMM the vehicle has noticeable vibration at idle and especially with AC running. With the tune raising idle to 800 and using the Denso plugs, my idle is smoother than it was in stock form and this is more enjoyable to me as far as driving comfort goes when there is traffic on the road. The power delivery with the tune is noticeably more linear than stock form, however much more explosive across the whole rpm range. For comparison, my RS feels faster now than my 11.9 second 1/4 mile Evo 9 did. If it is or not, only the strip will tell which I plan on doing. In summary, with the mods and tune, you can tell you are driving a car that is making a significant amount of power and torque than the stock form RS, but it is still just as livable as the stock form RS. My car now throws me back in my seat HARD, and scares my passengers! I can pass anything I want to on the road any time, very fun. I'm confident it will rip 0-60 in under 4 seconds without a doubt and it shouldn't have a problem pulling low 12 second 1/4 times if not faster with a bit of luck and skill. The tune, and all my supporting mods are an amazing boost in power when you consider the power gained to dollar ratio. All the mountune parts are superior quality, as well as the tune and dealing with the company. Randy in particular is a pleasure to work with and makes me feel confident with my modified RS, his work speaks for itself, go through mountune and you will not be disappointed, I'm not. I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but I felt compelled as my experience with all things mountune have been second to none and I couldn't be happier with my modifications and tune. My results as far as what I was going for couldn't be any better than they turned out. The car drives much smoother, the power is consistent, explosive, and linear, and the difference in the vehicles dynamics is very much apparent. All that's left now is a few more safety checks and adjustments and maybe and extra hp or two ;) Excellent work mountune, and especially Randy, hats off fella. MY RATING: 10/10 STARS A+ THE BEST!

Great read none the less. Glad your enjoying it and most of all gave you the desired results. Bang for buck with the RS is certainly a 10/10 in itself.
Cheers...

The car sounds great!

With 338whp though, you'll be lucky to get a high 12. How much power did the Mountune intake tube and air filter add?

I think I made 335 with just a tune if I remember correctly.

Hi, when you say adding more power WILL come with a price, is this is reference to the stock Getrag manual transmission reaching/nearing it's limit/capacity? Thanks.

check my last edit, the car is making more power than stated. these are numbers to be clear that are vdyno street driving condition with awd. if the car was on a dyno with the rdu disconnected in perfect conditions it would actually be putting up higher number"

lets just say that its basically pushing the motor as hard as it can go within a reasonable limit on Illinois 93 octane

Thanks for the reply.

Just trying to guage the limits of the stock hardware based on the perspectives of the different tuners we have so far.

In that case, I'm somewhat surprised that Mountune currently offes their Stage 1 transmission upgrade rated to 500bhp/600Nm (442.5 lb*ft) before mentioning/offering any engine block upgrades.

Then again, Mountune has a history of being ultra conservative with their tunes for the sake of reliability so there's that.....

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hmm so logs are showing that you're making 28 psi peak boost?

Didn't Adam say that he didn't want to push the turbo that far since it's out of its efficiency range? I'm pretty sure Adam is making similar numbers at ~24 psi.

Is Randy on the forum and can chime in?

Basically there is different ways to go about making the same results. if my car was on a dyno in the same conditions I'm pretty sure it would make about 350wheel. you can increase boost and adjust other parameters, or you can gain power by motor parameters adjust that are more severe than adding boost and working around that such as timing fuel and spark, either or end result will be similar
