Hello Everyone! I'm new here, bought a base NB a few weeks ago (3K off MSRP, sales tax in SC is $500, couldn't say no). Will be moving to Baton Rouge from Greenville, SC on February 8th for a new job. Previous mk7 GTI owner (FBO, is38). Georgia Tech alumni. Looking forward to becoming a part of the community!

I think you passed me driving down I-10 westbound near Hwy 73 yesterday after work. I was in my daily driver turd though.

That was probably me around 6:30'ish. I shipped the RS here and long story short, the shipping company damaged my front bumper and I will need a replacement + paint. If anyone knows a competent paint shop that can actually get the NB quad coat to match the rest of the car, please let me know!

Just a warning, you will get hit with 10% taxes here in LA if your car isn't a minimum age from new. You might want to sit on your SC registration for as long as possible...if possible. I don't know what the minimum is, maybe 6 months or 1 year. And 10% of 40K is alot of money!

I won't be heading to any RS events any more. I will be contacting Ford to buy it back once it comes back out of the shop.
A list of replaced items under warranty in 31K miles:
Motor
Head gasket replacement (Yes, also for my second motor which is also affected under the new TSB)
Transmission (twice, currently on 3rd)
Clutch & Slave Cylinder
Catalytic converters
Rear Oil seal
HPFP (Probably since it left me dead on the hwy. Ford has not confirmed the issue yet.)

Sucks about the problems with your RS. Good luck on the buy back.
What are you going to replace the RS with? Any ideas?

Yes. I already have a loaded out 2017 Chevy Sonic RS 6MT. Nothing near the capabilities of the RS but it is quite tunable to Focus ST acceleration figures. Some coilovers, a swaybar & tire upgrade and it will be ready to AutoX. I eventually will throw in a Wave diff to become a serious contender. The buy back isn't in vain. Since I was out of work for awhile it gives me a chance to recoup financially. And I actually have a lemon. As sad as I am to part with it, it only makes sense.

Wow! What an absolute nightmare. Sorry you've had such terrible luck with your RS. Shame too cause it's such a great car.
Wasn't yours built around the same time as mine? APR 2016? I think they even came on the same boat, iirc.

Hello all. I just moved with my 2016 grey RS to New Orleans about three weeks ago from California. I went to the Delta SCCA-hosted Track Night in America down at the NOLA Motorsports Park the other day, and should be out to their auto-crosses soon. Any other events I should be looking for coming up? I saw a few mentions for cars and coffee local.

How did you like the Track Night event? A few of my friends were there running their S2000s and they mentioned seeing your Grey RS. Unfortunately, I could not make the event. Hopefully next time!

I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I will say I wish there was a bit more instruction, though I don't think this is that type of event. I think I'm more used to educational experiences. That said, I think we got reasonable track time, they definitely gave enough freedom, and I felt overall safe in how they conducted the program. Everyone was very nice as well. I feel overall comfortable enough now to step to the intermediate group now that I've spent a little time getting to know this track.

Next Autox is 09/09/18 at Lamar Dixon in Gonzales, LA. It will be the debut of my Focus RS with MCS suspension, front/rear swaybars, and 275 Hoosier Slicks. Before I ran on stock suspension and Bridgestone PSS tires.
