What's up with the sticker?
A before and after. The before is as a result of a hit and run, unknown person smashed the drivers side and door was inoperable .. fast forward a month as the parts were hard to find and now it’s back as good as new ! View attachment 365616 View attachment 365617
Yeah, in Ontario, you have to report a collision to the police and that little sticker ensures that they have acknowledged it’s been reported. The police then give you a claim number to help you if you process it through insurance. If you take a damaged car to a collision repair shop without one of those stickers on, that’s the first question they ask. Hope that helps. What's up with the sticker?

Here is the other side to that , even if not planning using insurance by not reporting it may mean the police might pull you over for something else ( haha like with RS’s that never happens.. ) and ask about the damage . So with the sticker there that answers that at least and avoids awkward questions!!Cool, but if you are not claiming with the insurance you don't need to report it to the Police and get the sticker?

Rule of thumb is you may have no choice if another vehicle is involved . Otherwise Depends on the extent of the visible damage . The serious side of it you can see is when hit and runs occur and a vehicle turns up for repair most likely the repair shop will report a vehicle with obvious collision damage to the police unless the owner driver has a really believable story!Cool. But it sounds like even if you did a minor bumper damage in your driveway (lets say a rubbish bin being brought to the curb) or something in the garage hit your car you till need to report it.
Beware people with kids and significant others that are klutzes (is that the plural of that?)
🤣
Curious about the repair, did they end up replacing the entire door or just the outer sheetmetal skin?Rule of thumb is you may have no choice if another vehicle is involved . Hello! All new ! That was why the repair took so long the first door was not the right one! Then the shop found an OEM one and shipped it in. The door handle was ok it turned out . Good thing is the job is warrantied separately by the insurance company on this claim anyway so if it all falls apart I’m good .Curious about the repair, did they end up replacing the entire door or just the outer sheetmetal skin?
If they replaced the door do you know if they used the RS specific one or the base focus one?
I had a door replaced for much less/minor damage to the outer skin and my bodyshop guy told me it would be cheaper and easier to replace the whole door (although in my case that was paying out of pocket after an ice driving event mistake of my own)!! He found a used one year old door in perfect condition from a base focus to use as a replacement.
