So, I've got a V1 radar detector and its saved my ass many many times over the years. For the RS I definitely want some laser jammers. The car has got the perfect piece of black trim between the front grills to mount the diodes. I'm considering the Escort 9500ci just because it is a pretty slick concealed system but I think stand alone jammers would more effective at their task.
A lot of the info out there seems to be pretty biased to what that website is trying to sell. Anyone have any expierence or reliable sources of information?

My thought on lasers has been if a cop hits you with a laser and he notices its being blocked for some weird reason, hes going to pull you over for that alone.

They may pull you over, but charge with what, and honestly if they have no just cause to pull you over in the first place, they can't. It does set off a red flag no doubt and it may go to court, I have won every speeding ticket I have fought by simply saying I wasn't speeding. If they can't put a number on the ticket then it should be easily won. Every state is different though so I am only speaking from experience from mine. I don't think anything will help you if your into triple digits and they can always use radar if laser doesn't work. This system is for the people they may cruise 20 over the limit, not 30 or 40, but if your only going 20 over and you see a cruiser pull out after you get a warning you were hit, you slow down and tell the officer you were not speeding.

Trust me their just not worth the money for those things.
Well that's a different reason entirely. I'm not saying anyone should buy them. I'm just answering the question.

To the OP;

Does your V1 pick up laser? My Escort picks up laser and it almost never goes off. I've been hit with laser twice in the last 4(?) years. I only catch it when I'm on long road trips and actually long road trips are now where I try to stick to 0-5 over because that's where I've gotten all of my tickets in the past. So far I've not gotten any speeding tickets with my Escort 9500ix. It's saved me maybe a couple tickets at most. So maybe I'm just breaking even.

How many avoided speeding tickets (laser specifically) would it take to make a $2000 system worth it?

I know of someone here in TX that was charged with obstruction of justice. Judge ordered for it to be removed.

If you're looking for a jammer that's going to work, you'll need a top end dedicated system with at least two sensors up front and at least one above the plate on the rear. The cheap stuff just doesn't work. I'm not going to mention names, but do you're research and you'll end up seeing the two (maybe three) systems that are worth the effort and expense. All that being said, I popped the twelve hundred bucks for a quality setup, and I've been tapped twice in two years. I'm near 100% certain both were false signals. Make sure you need them. My Redline Radar Detecter has paid for itself many times over. Laser was a waste of money where I live.

Radar Jammer K40

The K40 is a completely built in radar detector with two radar receivers that go in the front and rear bumpers. They have special k-band filters on them that allow them to tell the difference between being hit with a radar from a police gun or radar from another vehicle. With this system you can also add up to four laser defusers for extra protection. Typically the package comes with two of them.

K40 Electronics | The Best Radar and Laser Jamming Solutions on the Planet

It works, but it is pretty pricey ~ $2,000

YMMV,

Yup, the V1 picks up laser. Doesn't go off too often but the only ticket I ever got was when the laser went off on the v1. When a radar/laser detector picks up the laser signal it means your being hit. So there's not much you can do about it unless you jam it. Legal where I am so I'd rather the fuzz not have a number or slow down and switch it off. A couple years back I did a few poker runs in Jersey/PA, a bunch of the guys had them and swore by them.
I know the technology the cops use has changed therefore I was curious if anyone round here was in the know.
It's not so much the cost of the ticket that's the problem. It's loss of driving privileges. Points suck... And so does NYS assessment

I really like the Stinger setup but 3k is steep. I need to wait for my RS so I can measure the black bumper section to see if the stinger antenna pad will fit. From what I read it must be mounted vertically behind a flat surface.

Make sure that the jammers jam the new guns that are making their way into LEO hands. I have an escort 9500, and it works great, however in atlanta the state troopers and city police are getting new guns that bypass the older style jammers.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm sure this will be addressed by manufactures asap.

It has been, im looking for my receipt to see what jammers I bought to replace my older ones, but be careful if you buy an older model that doesnt have to upgraded jammers.

As of last year, I'm pretty sure ALP and Stinger were the only two that could jam all the new guns.
