Sadly there aren't factory-designated spots beyond the pinch-welds which remains a constant point of consternation for me

Those pics have been doing the rounds for a while and I saved them for my future reference. You’re definitely not the first to be confused by how/where to jack this car safely - it’s a pain in the arse if you’re lowered because you’ll also need a set of ramps to get the jack under it.

Yea I guess the real answer is to "get a lift bro" lol. I've thought about just getting quick jacks but they are super expensive.
I don't even have a house, or I'd do the QuickJack by now. I don't think my buddy will appreciate me parking even more random car hardware in his garage. Though he does get some use out of it, so I've thought of maybe splitting them with him. His cars all have standard lift-points though, so it's not really an issue for him

It really annoys me that my 25yo car has pinch weld jack points on all 4 corners AND a front AND a rear jack point yet the RS doesn't.

OP, if you are planning on doing more work on your car, a set of jack rails would be a good investment.

Seriously! Every car I've worked on had convenient points rear and front. You just lift up one end, jack stands, and if you choose to lift up the other end, jack stands. Done! Swapping wheels is such a pain in the butt right now because I am lifting one corner at a time. It's unsafe too. I'll have to give the points naderpug pointed out a shot, but it's still annoying.
 
I'm using the steeda jack rails.....work Well and make getting car jacked and on axle stands much easier. I do a lot of work on car and it all has to happen in car park under my unit...or condominium for those who like multisyllabic words or are American. ;)
I ought to invest in those. Last I looked they needed a lift to install, some drilling, and some rocker panel trimming. Is that a thing, or did I misunderstand it?
 
I have a 2-Ton Harbor Freight low-profile aluminum jack. It looks like they don't really have it anymore. This one is aluminum, low profile, and can lift higher than their other offerings - to I think 24" or something. Most of their other jacks are 20" max. I think it's going on 5+ years that I've had it. Solid product.

Really wish I had QuickJack though, but I'll need a house before I invest in that. I currently store my jack at my friend's garage, which he doesn't mind since he gets to use it too.
 
While describing to a friend how I get an end up, it dawned on me how much I don't like it and need the rails. Just put in an order for a pair! Haha. I remember wanting to pick up one end by just using the 4 points. It ends up being this awkward sequence of events where mid-way through I have the car up by one jack stand, and the jack on the diagonally opposite end, trying to lift that up high enough to put another jack on the same end as the other one. Jacking rails should make it a no-brainer - lift up a side, jack stands, lift up other side, jack stands; done!
