I jack the entire side of the car from the front pinch weld. Change both tires, then switch sides.

Samesies.

I jack from the front pinch weld, then put a stand under the front A-arm, and rear pinch-weld on the same side I jacked. Then I lower the jack till the car is resting on the stands, but I leave the jack in place with light pressure on the pinch weld.

Hockey puck if you got one lying around, just cut a slot into it.

If not, you can pickup a slotted jack pad that is made of plastic or rubber usually. That's what I use.
