So I was taking a look at the interior photos of the RS and noticed the trunk button isn't where it was on the ST.
To me, that's good news!

Although it is possible it will go where the reverse fog light button is for those of us in the US...

I actually meant the same as @Fuxalt, when I tried to turn on the fogs I would pop the trunk lid. I've gotten in to the habit of only turning the fogs on when I'm at at standstill and not driving.

Don't believe ST's in Australia even have this our switch gear. it looks like the RS version. Front and rear fog light switches. Why have a hatch release button when it is not locked. There is the button on the key fob, never used this also. if the key is located by car you simply lift to open.

I've never had this problem and I like to leave my fogs on. I flash them instead of my headlights when I am trying to tell somebody to go ahead of me at intersections. Regardless, I hope there is a way to keep that rear fog light button and option.

The earlier 13s the fogs don't remember their last setting once you turn the car off. If you want the fogs on you have to turn them on every time you turn the car on. So it's easy to accidentally hit the hatch release button.
