I hope there's a good solution for a front license plate mount... having it right in the middle of that mouth guard is going to suck. :\
Just make sure to make it clear to the salesman when ordering the car that you don't wish to have a front plate mount and that he puts it in writing. If it comes down to it, the dealership would be responsible for either a new bumper, repaint or repair if it is in writing.the hard part will be making sure the dealership doesn't drill into the stock holes to put in their license plate holder.
The guys in service actually came to me to ask me if I wanted the license plate bracket installed. My state requires front plates, but I told them not to install it. 14 months later I paid $40 to the small suburb I was driving through for no display of front plate. I decided that I didn't want to get stopped again and installed the plate.I remember reading somewhere that dealerships are required to install the front license plate bracket on new cars in states requiring a front plate be displayed. When I went to buy my FoST, I noticed that the front license plate bracket was in a package in the hatch area and had not been installed. Knowing that the new car "prep" guys will occasionally take it upon themselves to install the front plate bracket during final prep, I grabbed the package and held on to it for the duration I was there doing the deal.
I like the look of the grille without the front plate installed and drove it that way for a while, but ended up going back to have them install it.
On ST's and Mustangs, we would automatically put a note into Google Docs to have them not install the plate bracket unless the customer requested it. But some times that would be over looked, so we put the notes in the windows to be safe.I remember reading somewhere that dealerships are required to install the front license plate bracket on new cars in states requiring a front plate be displayed.
