I'm gonna pull the front plate mount off, fill the holes, then have it vinyl wrapped in matte black. Time to correct what my dealer did (like a holes). Which front plate mount do you have and is there anyone who has had multiple that can chime in? Thanks.

I went with Grimmspeed - no complaints. I like the position and adjustability. Have not tried others though

I have Grimmspeed and like it as well. It is easy to adjust and I think it looks pretty good. I have heard, but have not been able to verify, that you run a risk having it connected through the tow hook. I believe it was someone on this forum who stated that if you are in an accident it increases the chance of causing frame damage. They did not provide supporting information however and it didn't seem like there was any consensus on this. I haven't researched Cooltech to see how it is mounted.

The Grimmspeed mount is super adjustable (angle and left-right position) which makes it awesome. It took a few minutes to get it positioned how I wanted. I also find it designed pretty well in that the license plate will keep the other screws from coming out.

Only slight downside is that I need to keep Allen wrenches with me in the event I need to pull the plate. I'd buy it again.

Thanks boys. I'm trying to find a deal on one and not finding any Xmas discounts anywhere.

The Cooltech V2 sits nicer, IMO.

It is made for the RS so it doesn't stick out as much. It also has fewer connecting parts, so it's less likely to come loose and is easier to set up. The GrimmSpeed looks like a universal solution. Cooltech's looks properly custom, to me. I had considered purchasing another tow hook cover and cutting it out for a cleaner look. I didn't do that though. Because the Cooltech sits so close, the hole from the missing cover is much less noticeable than with the GrimmSpeed.

I never bought the GrimmSpeed, because I had seen it in person, and didn't like it. RS owners that have the GrimmSpeed and see my Cooltech seem to prefer it. At least a couple have purchased the Cooltech, having already owned the GrimmSpeed, after seeing mine.

The best reason I can think of to buy the GrimSpeed is if you think you won't have the RS long, and hope to reuse some (or all) of it on a different vehicle in the future. That said, it's a relatively small investment relative to the cost of a vehicle and I'd rather have the Cooltech even if for only a short while.

I have the Cooltech v1 RS mount and last December someone backed into the front of my car in the parking lot at work. However, the Cooltech mount took 95% of the impact and actually saved my bumper! When the other vehicle made contact it hit the license mount first which absorbed the impact by bending slightly but not enough to actually damage the plastic bumper around it. That speaks volumes of the fit and quality of the Cooltech mount and I’d recommend it to anyone!

i like the positions the GrimSpeed offers. specifically to the left of the black center portion of the bumper, and angled back to match the angle of the fog light housing.

I don't think collisions with a tow-hook mounted plate are an issue. This is what my Grimmspeed relocation looked like after a hit. bumper cracked, plastic rad support broken..etc the frame was mangled but the bolt and crash bar were not damaged. I think at the point that it becomes an issue that you have larger problems. The damage pictured was someone entering a round-about without yielding and I hit their rear 1/4 and wheel going about 40km/h and spun them into the centre median.

Grimmspeed offers more adjustability, you can basically position it precisely where you want it to sit, but IIRC Grimmspeed is more expensive which is why I haven't gotten it yet, still waiting for the unlikely event of a discount, since I just couldn't quite justify spending more than $50 on a license plate mount...

I have the Grimmspeed plate mount on for 2 1/2 years now. No issues except one. The part that goes into the tow hook hole is all rusted. I've had to remove it a few times so the monkeys at Ford won't knock it loose while working on the car...

I have been able to remove, or at least loosen the plate part from the main bolt just by twisting it. But it's never worked lose on its own, but it's a thing I constantly check when washing the car and checking under the hood. It's always been secure.

Also. I have to carry all of the tools(1/2 inch socket wrench, the socket that fits the mount which I cant remember off hand, and a set of metric allen wrenches) required to remove the thing should the car need to be towed in an emergency. This is quite necessary. It's best to remove this by yourself, Tow truck operators aren't exactly gentle with the cars they have to move off of the side of the road.
