I’ve seen a couple threads on this but nobody seems to have an answer. Some RS/ST models outside of the US were equipped with a storage cubby right underneath the knob for the headlights. I really like it for such a small thing; and I can’t seem to find any real info, part numbers, etc on it. I’ve searched eBay US, AU, and CA along with reddit and now here and can’t seem to get anything solid on the little thing. So if anyone has a part number, “technical” name for it besides a ‘AU knee bolster’, or (and I’d be so happy) an eBay listing link to where I can buy one it’d be much appreciated. Thanks!

I looked into this at some point. I believe it cannot be fitted but would love to be proven otherwise.

The dash where this piece mounts might be different on our cars.
^this

The latches are different, if you could even find one. You will likely at least need the interior bits that hold the knee airbag to make it work.

Our cars have an airbag there. Non starter for me. GL
^This. Not sure what the car OP was referencing, but most newer USDM Focuses have knee airbags which get installed onto this "lower insulator" trim piece.

Like the OBD2 door, that cubby appears to be integrated with that trim panel, so although it might be possible to install one, you will have to get rid of the airbag or modify it to have the shelf for it.

I am now curious as to what the US market has in that spot, and what do the numbers 0 to 4 do on the headlight switch controller?
He's asking about the numerals 0 1 2 3 4 on the bottom right of the original photo do....
I think those numbers are for headlight height adjustment. If you look closely to the middle button, you can barely make out a headlight logo with and up/down sweep arrow across it and a dot pointing to those numbers.

@BigFatFlip you are right, its the headlight adjustment. My old Evo had that.

But it seems that the cubby has the space ont he left but the airbag on the right......
True, lots of empty space right above the obd2 port where that cubby would be (that's where I stuffed my obd2 splitter and lightbar switch/relay/extra wiring). The problem is that trim piece is all one piece and if you look at the OPs original pic, the one with the cubby doesn't have the cut out for the knee airbag.

So get both, laser scan them, and then digitally graft into one with left storage box with airbag support on the middle/right and 3D print it. Bet there would be a market of at least 8 people.

If I had the money for those things I would be making all kinds of things like that. And I would go to junk yards for cheap plastic parts from various cars. Clean, maybe scrap strap top later if sun damaged or discolored, then grind them up so I can melt , process through an extruder to make supplies so I could make the printed parts with the same plastics as OEM.

In case anyone is looking for this again, just search A043A88 on ebay. I started mentally going down the rabbit hole on scanning and printing new ones or grafting 2 together.

I think we already have that part. We want the cubby found on the Euro model without loosing the knee airbag.
