Just felt like sharing the tare down of our blown ST. As most of you know by now, we blew up our 2.0L Ecoboost engine on the track a few months ago and are currently getting a DeadHook Motorsports 2.3L stroker built. However, we finally got around to taking apart the blown engine yesterday and this is what it looks like.

Here is a video of the engine removal.

And what the engine looks like taken apart.

Enjoy the carnage!

so what is the cause?

is the engine not reliable?
The cause is extreme abuse, a lot of power, and to much time at higher than stock revs. Based on the way the rod looks, I think it let go on the up stroke, and not a power stroke. Either way, a blown engine is always a possibility when you start increasing power. The ST is definitely capable of making good power safely, we just pushed ours beyond the limits.

I never understood why green washers started falling out of the glove box and the floor fell out of the car....i just always assumed thats what happens when you blow a motor...but then its fine to get away from the cops later on?
