I believe they had to release a firmware update early on because the fuel calculations were off on the very first ones and folks were running empty.
Yes it was for that. I don't know why they took down the links.

I am not sure everyone got "upgraded", fortunately the one I got is up to date since it was originally purchased after April 11, 2018

I do have a question though, I just installed it today and test drove it.

Seems I need to press the drive mode button twice to get the option to change it (from normal to sport and so forth).

Is this normal?

That should not be normal. I've noticed that once in a while, but I never attributed it to the DSC module. For me, that button behaves like it originally did.

Only change I have made is the DSC controller, been one press button before.

Is going through a learning phase with the new controller?

Here is the latest video for DSC noting that they do not offer any firmware update:

I checked this myself before I installed my DCS controller.

WITH THAT BEING SAID: Seems in on point DSC released a firmware update for the Focus RS:

This puts the firmware release on 04_11_18 (April 11 2018).

If you go to their site, the links and files no longer exist for you to update your firmware.
The firmware update fixed the fuel level issue. I'm betting that DSC pulled the firmware updates because Porsche drivers kept flashing/bricking their modules when getting a new car.

After checking if there any updates/changes I need to do for the DSC controller I got, I decided to install it today.

NOTES CHECKING THE CONDITION OF THE DSC CONTROLLER (Especially if it was pre-owned):

DSC did say the unit is plug and play and does not require any changes and they do not offer any firmware updates. My firmware has the 04-11-2018 firmware revision and the current calibration installed on it has some minor difference compared to the 01-16-19 OEM calibration they have posted specifically on the velocity section:

OOB (OutOfBox loaded from DSC) calibration:

Look at the Travel stops sections above.

Here's the 01-16-2019 OE shocks calibration:

Rectangle Font Slope Screenshot Parallel

As you can see the Travel Stops are zeroed out on this.

I kept the OOB calibration loaded for now.

The install was not too bad:

Tool(s) needed:

T25 Torx screwdriver or bit with ratchet, I went with a ratcheting screw driver intead.

Optional Items:

Pry tool
Velcro

Open Trunk:

Hood Blue Car Motor vehicle Trunk

Free up Driver side of the trunk and take the trunk cover/divider. Carefully handle it as (I think) there fiberglass and the bottom side of it and it a ***** to take off your skin.

Use the T25 torx bit and remove the highlighted bolts:

I lightly pulled the edge of the trim from the weather seal off underneath it, being careful with the tabs:

Car Motor vehicle Green Fixture Vehicle

Also took out the square cover on the carpet close to the trim as its not as flexible as the carpet. The small circle on the cover is where is pushed it to release form the carpet.

I then continue prying the inwards while slightly pushing the trim downwards to clear the tabs on the trim as there small notches on them.

Once the trim is free, un-tuck the carpet from the weather strip, put your hand on the hole you took the small carpet cover and gently pull towards you.

You can now access to the fuel level module. Un-plug it and choose a side the pry the module from the two velcro on the car, be patient you need to put a little effort of pulling it off form the velcro.

I prepped the DCS with goo gone and applied two velcro strips on it.

NOTE: the DCS socket is upside down compared to the fuel level module:

There is enough slack on the harness to be flipped and connect to the socket, mine was more free when I flipped it counter clockwise:

NOTE: "Join" the carpet to the trim before you push it to the frame, if not It will not seat right as you might miss a tab:

The trim will not sit right and the holes for the screw will not line right.

Took the car for a spin in my area that I commonly past by and the street is in need of resurfacing. I usually go through those streets on my daily work commute from the office.

Verdict so far is (keep in mind I have a My 18' with the latest rev shocks/struts) it made it more forgiving on those road cracks. Also took it for a hot lap in the freeway (side note: 2008 Mazda6 with a fart can thought I was racing him, I'm not in the mood today) after a couple of exits and went back to the back streets. I did not feel any pogo-ing (well didn't really feel in on the My 18, it did on the prior My I tested before I picked mine up).

It's manageable on sudden lane changes and street imperfections.

TBH I'm a bit torn since I have been driving cars with more street feel for a while now, I must say now it somewhat took the edge off a bit.

I'll keep it on my car for now and see how I adjust.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also manually put the suspension in sport mode from the steering wheel stalk (while in drive mode "sport") and I got a "i" book icon:

Car Speedometer Vehicle Odometer Tachometer

After 5 seconds it went away.

I tested switching drive modes and noticed pressing the button once did not pull up the option. I need to press it the second time to get the option and go to Sport mode and such.

Is the sytem in learning phase or something that I need to give it time to adjust?

I didn't think that our controllers had wifi, did I miss something?

Also, don't worry about the velocity settings. That's only for ride height sensors, which we don't have.

Someone was mentioning that the drive mode button required 2 presses after installing the DSC. I've found that you have to do a long press to make it work.

Mine is broadcasting wifi, I posted a screen shot above.

Can you use the wifi feature load other calibrations?
It was/is not recommended for use with file transfer. I don't think any updates/improvements were made since these posts by DSC.

I would not rely on the WiFi to do the firmware update as the WiFi can be buggy. We are working on a WiFi update for all of our controllers and once that is available we will let everyone know. I do not have an ETA for that at this time but it is being worked on. That will be another firmware update. For now, I would use the USB cable.
We have WiFi in all of the Focus RS controllers. Below is a DSC Sport WiFi tutorial, but I will say at this time we highly recommend that you use a USB cable to transfer files. The WiFi is fairly new and we are still working on a firmware update for all of our controllers that have WiFi in them to make it a bit more reliable. I recommend that you stick to using a USB cable to make sure all file transfers are successful.

When changing driver modes the DSC doesn't respond as quick as the OEM unit, it's best to push once to bring up the menu, pause, then cycle through. The OEM unit you could double tap quickly to get into sport.
WiFi is best kept for monitoring data while logging/driving, basically forget about it. Remember the OEM dampers are crap and the limiting factor, not the DSC. Get a ride in a car fitted with Tractive dampers to feel what the DSC can really do.

Have to agree with 9Deisgns the OEM dampers are crap in their native form as supplied.

But if you add a set of either H&R, Mountune, Eibach springs coupled with a DSC controller there are as good as, if not better than the KW DDC setup using a DSC in my opinion

I would say after driving my MY18 with the DSC controller for a whole week made it feel more of a touring Evo X MR than how is was an Evo IX MR feel.

More forgivable on road imperfections still works well on the canyons.

I think I might change calibration for the track though.

I concur.
and the track calibration should be much stiffer.
