2010 Focus ST 3168 lbs
2010 Focus RS 3236 lbs (+68 pounds)

2015 Focus ST 3223 lbs
2016 Focus RS 3291 lbs (could this also be around +68 pounds?)

If this is the case, the mpg should be decent. It'll have the added reciprocal weight of the awd system, but it'll be a solid 300 to 350 pounds lighter than the Mustang.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that the new awd system transmission itself only adds 40 pounds? Does anyone know if the 2010 RS had an all aluminum block like the 2.3 eco boost? I'm having a hard time finding an engine designation name for the Focus' 2.3.

The 2010 RS was FWD just like the 2015 ST. The 2016 RS will be AWD. and I cant think of a way you get an entire driveshaft, rear transfer case, etc for 40lbs. Based on other platforms with the same car FWD vs AWD, I'd guess more around 3500lbs.

Agreed Blackdevil77. Around 200 lbs more than the ST is my guess.

I would expect at least 200 lbs. They did say the AWD system is light I remember reading, but that was referring to the unit in the Evoque, and the RS unit is stated to be beefier. Then you have larger wheels, larger brakes, larger intercooler, larger radiator and more coolant, adjustable dampers, all this adds weight and can add up quick.

I too think it will be in the 33xx pound range, even with my speculation it is so close to 3300, why not call it that?

If they did it with the 2010, there is no reason they cannot do it with the 2016? Which by the way, should really be called a 2017 model, like they did with the F150 that one year.

I'm thinking the sweet spot would be somewhere between 3,350 and 3,450. I hope at least. Lighter than that is wishful thinking, IMO.

Gentlemen's bet it is. If you were anywhere close I'd bet you a beer or something.

I'm saying 3399 or less, you're saying 3400 or greater ... correct?

When it comes to the EcoBoost Mustang, the base curb weight is 3,532 pounds with the manual, or 3,524 with the automatic transmission. In comparison to last year’s V6 model, the turbo ‘Stang has packed on 36 pounds with a do-it-yourself gear box or six with the automatic.

Finally, the top-dog Mustang has packed on the most weight, increasing its curb weight by 87 pounds with a manual transmission, bringing the total to 3,705. With the automatic, the V8-powered Mustang has gained 54 pounds, putting the final curb weight at 3,729 pounds.

I really hope it stays under 3500, but you might be very close.
