Hey all-

I have been reading this forum for the past few months while anticipating a VIN number and a build date on the 2016 RS I ordered from a NJ dealer. I finally have a VIN and a build date of 7/8/16. Does anyone have a contact at the Saarlouis Body and Assembly Plant in Germany who wouldn't mind snapping a few pictures of my car being built? I think that build pics would be an awesome thing to have. Please let me know if someone out there is willing to assist considering my build date is only 2 days away. I appreciate it!

If the Ford factory is anything like the Porsche, or BMW factories I have been to, I am guessing that phones / cameras are verboten on the shop floor.

When I did the tour of the BMW factory a few years back a lady pulled out her phone and the tour guide freaked out on her, like to the point where I think she started crying, it was kind of awkward. Porsche takes your phones away, you have to leave any electronic devices in a locker while in the factory, they even made people with Apple Watches take them off!

Everyone working in the factory wears a uniform, and work life and personal life in Germany are very separate things. When I was in Stuttgart a month ago I saw a bunch of Porsche factory workers texting while eating outside the factory, I am guessing that phones stay in your locker while you are working. They do drink coffee on their breaks, oh, and you have a desk job in the factory, you can bring in a plant. There were plants everywhere in the Porsche factories in Leipzig and Stuttgart.

I think Corvette has the best factory tour program, you can wrench on your own car!

Would be cool to have though!

With the technology they have, it would not be that hard, and would be super awesome to have a time-lapse video of your car going through the production line. But then again, we are all in the minority, car people that is. Most people don't care.

I would be happy with a decent tracking system!

Unless, it seems, you are an automotive journalist, which makes no sense. I am guessing that they had to have all of their photos approved by Porsche, interesting nonetheless.

Hahahah, can't blame a guy for trying. That idea makes too much sense and would assume there is any amount of logic associated with this RS release.
