What is your use case / do you want to change anything about your brakes?

If you’re on the street - stock works great. If you’re on track, in my experience, these won’t boost your performance during sustained lapping where the temperature builds up in the braking system. I upgraded materials but eventually landed on aggressive air ducts to make the car stand up to 20 minute sessions at my (hard on brakes) track.

If you want a more aggressive pad with more stopping power and cool looking slotted rotors, the Mountune package could be a good way to go.

I didn't think the price Mountune is charging these days was worth it.

I wanted powerstop parts from Tirerack but they are eternally backordered and they only told me so after I already bought the things under the belief that the two people I had talked to previously weren't lying to me about their stock.

I ended up with a full set of Raybestos pads and rotors from Rock Auto. Entire price out the door was $390.

So far, they stop just as good as OEM does and don't have the dreaded 'it's below 50 and raining and brakes won't work on the highway unless you pump them a few times' tendency the OEM pads had. Haven't had them on a track and there isn't much going on here for the rest of the season for me to test it out in those situations either.

Fwiw, I might throw out Hawk ceramic pads as an option. I just put some on, on one of the forum-goers suggestion. Haven't driven much. I don't think they are considered an upgrade in performance department, but are more OE-like. They feel solid though, have a pleasant action, and are super quiet. They also dust a fraction of the stock dust.

For regular use, you want stock OE.

 

Gotcha I was thinking of something more exostic because at Ford they said part will cost around $900 I think with everyhitng + labor so I thought let me get fancier brakes

 

For regular use with a occasional track day tossed in you really can’t beat ebc.
They have extremely good rotors and for daily the yellow stuff pads are great. If going to track occasionally then go with blue stuff. I run them on my cars. Even torture tested the rotors on my track car with a set of cobalt friction pads and the rotors held up fine.

 

A lot of god info OP..sounds like you could save some mula skipping the "upgraded" brakes

I really like the Stoptech Street Performance for street/autox as a pad that's still cheap but mildly better than most OE pads.

 

@RSUSA My pads were near minimum spec and my rotors were already there when I bought m RS (third owner). Like you, I just wanted to duplicate OEM brake performance (only without OEM brake dust!). I priced OEM stuff from my dealer, and ended up going with rotors and ceramic pads from the Tire Rack (about 250-275 less than dealer OEM price). To be fair; if I'd priced the OEM stuff at one of the online OEM discount places (e.g. tascaparts.com) the price differential likely would have been much less.

I DO NOT recommend Power Stop kits. I ordered a complete kit through Summit Racing for my '13 ST, and though they fit, looked, and worked great I was still waiting for the rear calipers I'd paid up front for; 6 months later when I traded ther ST in on the RS. Same experience as Ayada----be advised!

Summit Racing, tire Rack, CarID, Steeda, CJ Pony Cars, and others all carry brake parts/kits for the RS. Good luck!

BTW: I went with Stop Tech slotted rotors and Hawk HPS ceramic pads, and have been thoroughly satisfied with them. Good initial bite, same feel (to me) at the pedal as OEM, and a WHOLE lot less dust!

PS I've used EBC brake components on several motorcycles and have no complaints about any of their stuff either.

Are you running Hawk HPS or Hawk Performance Ceramic?

 

For the Street use, OEM brakes are fine. Just note, most aftermarket "Street" pads are only going to be a mild upgrade over the OE's.

I run Centric Blanks with Stoptech Sport pads. They're pretty comparable to OEM in terms of stopping power and feels, but they do dust about the same.
