Does anyone have additional details regarding this "feature" on the RS? On some vehicles it can be disabled, and it appears there is a button that allows you to turn it off, but I'm curious if there will be a setting where it can be turned off by default.

It looks like this button is to do exactly that. Although I doubt you will be able to default it to off. Likely will have to be turned off every time, since it is about increasing fuel mileage.

Also, someone in the ST forum posted the following from the 2015 Euro Focus manual that talks about how the thing works.

I was a little bummed about it, but reading through that I don't think it will be an issue. Since I rarely put the car in neutral and take my foot off the clutch anyway while driving. It will take a bit of getting used to when attempting to warm up the car though, having to remember to turn it off. Also, I think this pretty much guarantees that the "honk, honk" when you get out of the car while running will happen too..

I get that, but you have to press the button every time to turn it off. I don't want it on by default. The other option is to always leave the clutch in with the car in gear, but over time that can cause wear. I'm wondering if there will be some sort of config setting where it can be turned off (like hill assist).

I almost never do, I like to have the car in gear and ready to move. I don't trust people I guess and feel like I should be ready to get out of the way if need be.
If I'm at a light I don't know where I would move to until it turns green, unless someone is going to rear end me, in which case I'll let them rear end me and take the responsibility instead of me willingly pulling out into traffic to avoid them. In stop go traffic I leave the car in gear, and stop signs I leave it in gear, but lights it goes to neutral.

Are you getting an email every time someone quotes you?

The Forscan software should be able to turn the Auto Stop on and off, just like things like Global Windows. I've seen it listed when I did the Global Windows on my 2013 ST.

Unless I'm completely mistaken, one of the buttons next to the shifter is to turn auto start on or off with a simple button push. The upper right one with the "A" on it. Land vehicle Vehicle Car Motor vehicle Center console
Feel free to correct me, as I'm trying to learn as I go, just like the rest of us. Gear shift Vehicle Car Center console

Right, that is what the A is for. I want the stupid "feature" off by default or flat out disabled and I don't think we will know what can or cannot be done until the car is released. If Ford won't or can't help, hopefully an aftermarket tune can remove it.

I remember hearing somewhere that it is set to off by default and it's one of those things that stays off until you press the button to turn it on and vice versa to turn off. So it's Prolly one of those things you don't have to fiddle with each time you get in the car.

Reading the description for Auto-Start-Stop that Sda3 posted relieves one of my major concerns and that was cold weather. Nice to see they put in some safe guards on that respect, still not sure if it's something I'll disable most of the time or learn to live with... it will have to be something to experience first hand.

Let's hope. Same goes for what driving mode the car stays in.
