OK guys,

Have yet to order but was very inclined 99% on nitrous blue until I saw pics of the cars with nitrous blue and stealth grey.

Now I am thinking stealth grey to avoid attention from police.

Having an STi in wrc blue has brought it's attention from the police so am having second thoughts on which color option to go with especially as I am a little older these days and don't want the hassle from boys in blue.

Has anyone else gone in with nitrous and now thinking grey?
Decisions decisions.....

I ordered one in Shadow Black, but that was before I knew Nitrous Blue had some metallic to it. So now I bounce between the two. I like the subtlety of black, but I really think the blue looks nice. If my SB car never gets scheduled, I may try and order NB.

So the nitrous blue has that metallic shine in the sun?
Hmmm
Would love to see it in the flesh..

White!

White, blue.
Blue!
White, blue, blue, blue, white, blue, white, white, grey, white, blue, blue, blue
smurf blue noo, white. Yes White! Blue. Confirm order - Blue.
blue, blue, blue

blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, white, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue

What's todays date? And time? Ahhh, then blue it is. Quite un-e-quiv-o-cal blue. Yes. Good.
White looks sharp doesn't it. Paint the blue callipers white and highlight text in RS blue. Hmmm?

Lucky I 'm certain I'm not alone.
I'm good a certainty.

We don't get stealth grey in Australia so you'd have to go Magnetic. I'm not sure how much the colour impacts you getting pulled over by Police. Just go for whatever you prefer, an RS is still an RS.

If I were to go for a different color it'd definitely be Frozen White (currently NB)... Just something about pure white performance cars, especially Fords (GT350 in white is sweet).

I have been tossing up whether to swap to NB. I always like white performance cars though, and NB will definitely be the most common colour so I wanted something different. Still, it's such a hard choice...

Given how relatively few we're going to get I can't associate the word 'common' with the RS. 'Popular' colour, yes, but it is still likely to be a relatively rare sight on our roads..........

On the STI - I suspect it's that gigantic wing that attracts more police attention from a distance than the colour....

Good question from OP, might be worth a poll. In my case I initially disliked both NB (too shouty and adolescent) and SG (which I thought too boring and drab). My opinion on the former hasn't shifted, but it certainly has on the SG, to the point where it is currently my favourite (pending a real-life viewing). White looks great on some performance cars (see car porn below) but doesn't really do it for me on the RS, makes it look too pedestrian and appliancy. Black is nice but maybe hides the lines a bit much, and the upkeep - ugh.

I have never bought into the "common color to blend in" mantra. Don't speed and drive like an a$$hat and you wont have a problem, no matter the color. I built a 400 HP Fox body with 40 series Flow's in Ford 'Orange Crush' and never had issues with the law. Having said that, I am going with SG for my RS. I hate black, every swirl mark shows and its impossible to keep clean. My wife already drives a blue Focus hatch, so NB is out. White is OK, but kind of boring. SG is the best of all the lame color options we get. At least its a very rare color in the US.

Can confirm things that attract cops more than the color of the car

1) Exhaust sounds (usually if your ripping it, its loud and proud)
2) Your Speed (Do i have to explain this? lol)
3) Where you are driving, Police Departments like to crack down on certain roads and are much more quick to pull you over based on that
4) Reports of a "Blue Focus" "White Focus" "Gray Focus" "Black Focus" tearing through the town over the last week

and many others factors like the STI Wing dont help, also cops are smarter than you think, they know who usually owns and drives those cars.

But really all that aside buy the car you want with the paint job you want. Don't let outside influences determine what color it is.

becasue quite frankly if your doing 80 in a blue or white car, your still getting pulled over

best of luck!

desk_jockey,

I hear you on black. When it is clean it looks awesome, but it gets dirty very easy and swirl marks show some paint sealants and rinseless wash/polish will minimize)..

Okay colors:
Magentic is nice but not available in USA
Nitrous Blue - I know some people like, but I really don't care for that shade of blue ( I was pretty politically correct )
Stealth Gray - I know it is a new younger set color, but it looks like shiney clear coat on primer to me.
Frozen White - I really don't like white; I had a M3 white because the dealer only had what I wanted in that color. I know some people like white really well, but it just isn't me.

So I can't get Magnetic and I don't like Blue, Grey, or White .... so what am I to do???

A Maaco repaint wouldn't be good - so H'mm ???

YMMV,

Haven't ordered yet, but I still can't completely decide which color I would choose.
Based on posts I've read from the various different threads, it seems like SG is extremely popular....everyone seems to be switching to it. I really really wanted to like it (and maybe I will if I see it in person), but in some pictures it just looks way too lavender/purply grey to me. I may be the minority, but I do like the super light grey pics of it. :)

Yes, I did! After much pontificating I changed from "Race Red" to "Shadow Black"

YMMV,

P.S. - I actually did cancel an actual order for a "Tornado Red" car when my RS order became a reality :D
