I have some bug splatter across the intercooler. I have gotten the worst of it off, but still have some stuck in between and on the fins. Since the fins are difficult to access and are easily bent, does anyone have any tips for cleaning them up?

toothpick and patience. you can also you a coarse brush and some soapy water... but to get it detailed, toothpick and patience
Thanks for the tip. I ended up lying on my stomach for 30 minutes poking a wooden cooking skewer through the grill. Only succeeded in pushing the bug remains into the intercooler in some instances. A frustrating exercise.

I've not looked to verify, but can't you just drop the undertray while on ramps and use a hose to push them out from the back of the intercooler? They should come off easier than from the front? Maybe? Or...I'm wrong.

I have the same issue with the bugs since I live out in the country. I used to get a ton of them on my Harley and I found that the best way to get them off was to take a spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide in it and spray everything that had bugs on it...and I mean spray the hell out of it so that the peroxide is dripping from everything. I'd let it soak for 10-20 minutes depending on the temp outside and then I would just hose it off with a garden hose. surprisingly enough this worked very well on the Harley with all of the little nooks and crannies that bugs could get stuck in. I'm going to try it on the Focus the next day I have a little time at home and see how it works on the radiator and intercooler....couldn't hurt!!!
