ADM Dealers. a.k.a. "The Naughty and other Offers List"

I've been doing a lot of calling and stopping by dealerships in my quest for an RS at or below MSRP. Many of the dealers I've run across that claim to have allocations are trying to get some pretty high mark-up on these things. A couple have even joked that they're going to let them sit in the showroom to see just how much someone is willing to pay for it. Smart business? Greasy and dishonest? I leave the morality of it up to you all. I'm just going to post up the dealers who have told me they want additional dealer markup for the RS. I'll also encourage others to post their own findings as well. Perhaps it will save time for those still looking for an RS at a reasonable price. So without further ado, here are the ones we know of...

If you know of a dealer asking for money on top of the sticker, post it up. If you got different numbers at one of the dealers above, post that as well. Some of these guys might change their tune if allocations start getting shifted to other dealers.

Stamford Ford Lincoln - Stamford CT - 5k

Family Ford - Enfield CT - 5k

I was fortunate enough to find a dealer with one allocation and no mark up. Placed a deposit yesterday :D
Sorry OuttaFocus, this info doesn't really help you considering I'm in New England but hopefully it helps others.

Leif Johnson in Austin, TX started out at $10k then 'graciously' backed down to $5k.

I think that's the problem these dealers are going to run into. In Europe, where rally is very popular, there's a lot of heritage and brand recognition for the RS badge. Here in the states, not so much. To most Americans, it's just a "souped up Ford Focus." Supply may be small, but there is a very small pool of people willing to pay $50k+ for a "souped up Ford Focus." All it takes is some bad press - a recall, QC issues, cars not meeting HP figures - for that small pool to turn into a puddle. Suddenly trying to add as much markup as possible becomes trying not to sell it at a loss. Even the announcement of more competition - a more powerful STi in 2017, for example - could put a big dent in what people are willing to pay. It's a big gamble on the part of the dealer, and the buyers as well.

Don't get me wrong though: I want the car to be a hit. I want it to be the great driving experience we're all hoping for. I want more people to turn off Nascar and discover rally. And I want the car to appreciate, not depreciate. But if waiting a few months saves me 5 grand, so be it. I've got plenty of other stuff to drive in the meantime.

San Leandro Ford - San Leandro,CA (ADM: $3K to $5K)

I got it with a $3K ADM, and was told they might be able to go lower depending on demand closer to release. I placed my ordered on 12-OCT-2015, however more recently I heard they are now charging $5K ADM.

Some more...

Frontier Ford - San Jose, CA: $5,000 ADM and they have 2 allocations available
Capitol Ford - San Jose, CA: $3,000 ADM and not sure about the allocation

I ordered mine at Sunnyvale Ford (not with $10,000 ADM though).
They may not have allocation available for me but I can either wait or cancel.

They quoted me $3000 ADM! Not sure when you were asking. When I inquired, they only had 1 of 3 allocations left (mid-October?).

I found a few notes I kept when searching for an RS:

Twin State Ford (St Johnsbury, VT) - initially quotes $5k, but said markup wasn't finalized
Autofair Ford (Manchester, NH) - $5k
Unique Ford (Goffstown, NH) - $3k (they initially told me they don't charge markup, but the manager apparently changed his mind when I came in to order it. They passed it off saying that Ford charges the dealers $3k for each RS, so the markup ensures they break even.)
Ford of Londonderry (Londonderry, NH) - $3k

And finally,
Rowe Westbrook (Westbrook, ME) - initially wanted $10k. Apparently had 5 people interested in the RS but none at $10k. So, they decided to have the people bid for the allocation, with a $2k opening bid. I got a couple calls after this asking if I was still interested at $2k, so I'm assuming no one else bit at $2k either. They haven't called back since I told them I got one for MSRP.

Man I through a fit when my local dealer wanted to up-charge $1k. I actually walked away from the deal and contacted the regional rep. I ended up paying MSRP... I simply can't imagine paying ADM on this car.

Eh, for me it's more about the quest to find the deal than the money itself. And with gas being so cheap and it being Spring/Summer, I'd rather drive halfway across the country to get the thing. It'll be a nice roadtrip. I was almost relieved to not find anything close by. Plus I've bought a lot of cars and it's always a thrill in not letting the salesman win :D

Thanks for the additions everyone, I'll add them to the list.

Did anyone order from Duncan Ford-Lincoln, Key West, FL, to have a scenic road trip back to the mainland?

Galpin - $5k

It's a bummer - I really really wanted to order an RS to replace my FiST (lease is up at the end of May) and I really love Galpin, but I can't abide ADM. I was talking to another dealer that some people on here said had a much lower ADM, but they can't confirm a price for me, which makes me wary. The last thing I want is to take that chance and then for it to get here and be marked up super high.

GAH! Why is this so difficult :( It's the exact opposite of any other car transaction - I find myself having to hound dealers instead of vice versa haha.

Yeah, never before have I walked into a car dealership and offered to pay sticker price in cash for a car without so much as seeing it, and been turned away. It's a little ridiculous. If the prices don't normalize by summer, I might just "settle" for an STi.

There will always be someone willing to pay whatever price to have something like the RS. It's either you pay the ADM or the next guy behind you will. It's the next guy up theory.
To a point, but 20k ADM is getting into BMW M3 territory. Even suckers have their limits.

#35 ·
To show you guys I am not lying, here is the response I got back from the dealership when I basically LOL'D at the price and told them no way..

"I am willing to work with, but if you are looking to get the car at MSRP that's not going to happen. We have already sold one for the adjusted market value. I am sure you are aware that production on these vehicles is very limited and they are hard to come by. How close to $20k over can you come?
Sincerely,
Michael Regan

I just feel bad for the sucker that actually bought one with the adjusted market value, so she said.. smh

And that's assuming that the salesperson wasn't flat out lying to you about somebody paying the $20k ADM...which is what I assume this stealership was doing. Ask to see the bottom part of that sales invoice, showing the price, and see how fast he backpedals and makes excuses about why he can't show it to you..."Our computer system is down" would be my 1st expected response.
