Focus ST: 75k Mile Owner Review

I've owned a ST for the past 3 years and 75k miles. It's been a fantastic car, and because it's been so great I ordered a RS.

I've had my ST for going on 3 years now. Full stage 3 with a custom tune for most of that time. It's got 50k miles and still going strong. Honestly haven't had a single problem out of the car. Still puts a smile on my face like the day I got it. It just lacks one thing.. AWD. But, thats why I'm getting the RS.

Interesting, thanks.

One mod you made (going by your photos) that you didn't specify in the review is the addition of super-wide rubber. Hard to tell, but they look to be at least 275s - several notches up from the ST standard 235s. That had to make a huge difference in a whole range of driving parameters.

Yep! I should have mention them in the review. Those are 18x9 team dynamics with 245/40 Dunlop Direzza's. They make a significant difference in the cars handling. Higher level of overall grip and you ask a lot of the front end on corner entry with the stickier and wider tires. I strongly believe 245 is the sweet spot for fitment, it only rubs under hard cornering and big bumps. As far as lap times, over the stock 235 goodyear eagle f1 rubber it's probably 2 seconds quicker around Putnam park which is a 1.78 mile road course.

There weren't any indicators leading up to it failing. It just completely quit making any power, I've heard of a few other early ST's doing the same thing.

I'm just about to turn 75k miles on my '13 ST. Nearly identical experience. Absolutely no issues. Running Cobb Stg-1 AP. And even had the front brakes catch fire on a track day at PIR! Thankfully only needed to replace the pads.
Haven't placed the order for the RS yet. Feel the need to read some tests and owner reviews before laying down 40 large.

It'll be too late by then! Haha. That's why so many people on here are buying sight unseen.

That's what some folks said when I waited on the ST. Ended up paying $5K less then my buddy who pre-ordered the exact same car.
True, he got to drive his 5 months before me... but at a $1K per month premium, I don't feel it would have been worth it.
