Just bought a 2018 Focus RS and I know the consensus is that the suspension is overdamped and it pogos like crazy. But the thing is, the wife and I both think the suspension is fine; stiff but fine. When I had a 2015 WRX STI on coilovers, she absolutely hated it. I also had a 2016 Audi S3 with Audi Magnetic Ride, and surprisingly that car handled speed bumps and potholes much worse than the RS. I know the (front?) shocks were revised halfway through 2017. I have nothing to compare to but I was expecting the ride in the RS to be a lot worse. I'm wondering if anyone has personal experiences with 16/17 versus 18 RS's.

The ride isn't that bad. It's just not the European sports car levels of soft that reviewers want it to be. Initial reviews created an echo chamber for this "overly-stiff suspension" opinion.

It's only bad in track suspension mode, but nobody uses that thing on the regular anyway.

It's a mix of personal preference and driving conditions. I ran stock springs on my very early 17 and never had an issue, unless the road got really rutted/uneven/bumpy. Then the bouncing was noticeable. Other than that it was fine for me and my kids.

My first car was an 05 April17 build and it didnt have the new front struts. No pogo evident though, and our roads here aren't the best. My latest car I swear sits a little lower than my first. Can anyone here with totally stock suspension measure the ride height from the ground to the top of the wheel arch all around and let me know the measurements? I have a set of Mountune springs which are 15mm lower ready to fit but it seems like they wont make any difference. may be just my imagination.

Ciao

) Ride height: before and after Mountune blacks.

Original ride height:
Front 26 7/16 left and right
Rear 26 7/8 left, 26 3/4 right

After both front and rear spring change:
Front 25 15/16 (- 1/2") left and right
Rear 26 7/16 (- 7/16) left and right

***UPDATE ON RIDE HEIGHT: the car settled an additional 1/16" so the final numbers are:

Front 25 7/8" left and right (-9/16")
Rear 26 3/8" left and right (- 1/2")

All measured with full tank of gas, cold MPSS tires at 41/38 psi.
