I have a 2017 Focus RS. It is at the dealer right now with a Rev. Hang/Climb problem. They are telling me that they can’t find a problem and that it’s normal. I have had it Rev. Climb for over a minute. I pull up on the gas peddle and it goes away. The dealer is telling that it’s a fly boy wire system and that is not possible. Has anyone had this problem and know what the solution is so I can tell them?

If pulling up on the pedal fixes the issue, then it sounds like you just need to have them replace the gas pedal. The sensor is part of it.... and I'm not sure if it can be replaced on its own. Or maybe the return spring on the pedal (or some part related to that) is wearing out.

I don't recall seeing anyone else here that had that issue before.

Thank you for the response. I have said that to them and they told me that can’t be the problem. They don’t know what is wrong and they are calling it normal and want to give the car back to me with fixing the issue. The cars warranty end in July this year.

They said it themselves that the car is fly-by-wire, so how could the pedal assembly not be related? It sounds like the dealer is just being a dealer. Good luck getting them to look more into it! They should at least be looking at the TPS value to see if the throttle is being commanded open during those rev hangs.

Some rev hang is normal during the warm-up process. During normal driving there shouldn't be any hang, other than the couple seconds of rev matching that the car provides.

Luckily the part is very easy to replace, but I'm not sure about its cost. Not that you should have to pay for it, but just in case....

Excellent advice from morbid and Jamo!

Obviously; I don't know who you've been talking to/dealing with at your dealer---------but, have you tried (politely) taking it up "their" chain of command? If not it might be worth a try. Hope you get it fixed right on their dime soonest!

They sent it to ford. It’s ford telling them that the car is running normal. I believe that they Don’t trouble shoot cars anymore. They plug in their diagnostic device and wait for the answer. If the car is not kicking any codes they don’t seem to ever know what to do.

You might as well get the car back and replace the gas peddle assembly yourself. Depending on which one you get it’s less than $100 from RockAuto. Also, if you’re getting rev hang like that after the car is warm it’s 100% the pedal assembly. I had that problem and know I’m not the only one and that’s the solution pretty much always. I even tried taking logs and video of it for the dealer and they just didn’t either understand or get how to fix the problem, despite me giving them the answer. For some reason it’s either a high failure part on RS’s or we complain about it more because I’ve seen them on this form and on The RS Facebook group.

TLDR, just replace it yourself. It’s 2 bolts and 15 minutes.

Had the same issue. For me, it was the pedal. Took about 10 minutes to replace it myself (time-value prop for me it wasn't worth waiting on the stealership to realize it was the issue). If you search for that part #, it came on several Ford models. I got one from eBay for $43 shipped.

Thank you for the response. I told the dealer that it was the peddle. They replaced it. They said it fixed the problem. I will be picking up the car today. I appreciate all the information I received here. It was a huge help. Also my warranty runs out in July so I will look here for advice on any other problems. Thank you all agin.
