On a side note, the Euro water temp gauge has actual numbers? Mine just has C to H, which I assume stand for "Cold AF" and "Hell no" respectively, which doesn't give all that much information. On the bright side I have a logical speedo with even intervals which doesn't trigger my OCPD.
Only about 2000km of mostly Highway driving. No track work yet sadly.

According to the manual, there is a sensor that monitors the oil to determine when it needs to be changed. Here is what it says:

Your vehicle is equipped with an Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor that determines when you should change the engine oil based on how your vehicle is used. By using several important factors in its calculations, the monitor helps reduce the cost of owning your vehicle and reduces environmental waste at the same time.
This means you do not have to remember to change the oil on a mileage-based schedule. Your vehicle lets you know when an oil change is due by displaying a message in the information display.
The following table provides examples of vehicle use and its impact on oil change intervals. It is a guideline only. Actual oil change intervals depend on several factors and generally decrease with severity of use.

When to expect the message prompting you to change your oil
    Interval Vehicle use and example
    7500-10000 miles (12000-16000 km) Normal
Normal commuting with highway driving No, or moderate, load or towing Flat to moderately hilly roads No extended idling
    5000-7499 miles (8000-11999 km) Severe
Moderate to heavy load or towing Mountainous or off-road conditions Extended idling Extended hot or cold operation
    3000-4999 miles (4800-7999 km) Extreme
Maximum load or towing Extreme hot or cold operation

I believe there is a maximum mileage that it will alert you need an oil change as not long after the last time I had my car in to have an oil change, the indicator came up. I did the reset and haven't seen it come back since. It is also possible that the RS doesn't have the same monitoring system as the non-RS Focus. The above is from the main owner's manual. The RS supplement has the following, which is worded differently.

Your vehicle is equipped with an intelligent oil life monitoring system. Under normal operating conditions, a message appears in the information display to indicate the regular oil change interval. High performance vehicles tend to be driven in such a way that the engine experiences high speed and high load. As a result, some oil consumption could occur and the message appears earlier than the regular oil change interval. If you drive your vehicle this way, we recommend that you check the engine oil level every 2000 mi (3,000 km) and fill the engine to the maximum mark on the engine oil dipstick.

The way that is worded, it seems to imply it is only based on mileage but also monitors for a low oil condition.

Mine came on about 2000miles after I did my oil change. I never reset it. But I checked the oil, it is Basically new

If the oil light wasn’t on when you took it in for a change they had nothing to reset, steps above to reset, easy fix.

Ah that makes sense then - it's not like a service counter that you reset whenever you want, it can only be reset when it comes on. Never seen anything like that before!

No, you can perform the oil life reset procedure whenever you want without the indicator on. I reset my oil life when I change my oil. Sometimes the light is not on and it still resets it.

I know the steps, I added them. But my car because i didnt reset the oil life, hit the oil life by miles. Like exactly 1000miles since I got my oild changed last.
