Make sure to bill the city for all the streets you plow

I took the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference.

Hopefully there's a skid plate there now.

Yup--bit the bullet and installed the ADF customs skid plate a few months ago... Which is beautiful, if insanely expensive for what it is. Silly that the car can't handle the snow without it.

Did manage to get it briefly stuck on a giant pile from a real plow... It didn't want to go anywhere with one rear wheel basically airborne. Track mode and then working the parking brake managed to get it to send some torque to the only rear wheel with traction and got free. It's still way more capable in the snow than the WRX it replaced.

Other winter gripes: I have to either deal with the tire pressure warning light or run 40 PSI on snow tires even though I get much better grip in the snow with substantially lower pressures. Sometimes I get "drive mode unavailable" when it has to be parked outside. The brakes suck when cold. And the stability control likes to kill the power on new snow tires because it can't tell the difference between actual rotation and squishy tires on dry pavement. It gets better as the tires wear, but I really do wonder how much winter testing ford actually did on this car.
    MorningZ and Bringer like this.
